Football betting

would this work.. betting £100 every week say on chelsea.. Surely youd be up hundreds of pounds in profit every year?

Yes but you've got to be able to take hit when they're not playing well, and have the balls to put it on in the first place as they're not always going to win.

generally doesnt seem worth the effort for the small game.
Id rather just put a few quid on a game I wanted to watch for scoreline/scorers etc, not really a better but sometimes I just fancy it.
Iv only bet £1 in a betting shop and I walked away with £26 after a nailbiter which was city liverpool correct score t'other week;)

Doing that bet means you are betting every weekend, and to make only £100 as a result over an entire season is a bit of a wasted effort, considering how much money you could be making.

Predicting 4 or 5 results isn't as hard as it sounds, people just need to look at the teams and not the odds. Granted a lot of the time it doesn't come in but one will eventually, and you get plenty of goes with £10.

I picked the £100 figure out of the air...and I did say over. Currently I'm £48 in profit and only 8 out of 38 matches have been played. If half of those 30 matches left are winners then that's an extra £150 in the kitty. It all depends on whether all 3 bankers come in at the same time.

Have a look at the wins for The top 3 sides over the last few seasons:

2007/2008

1 United 27
2 Che£$ki 25
3 Arsenal 24

2006/2007

1 United 28
2 Che£$ki 24
3 Liverpool 20

2005/2006

1 Che£$ki 29
2 United 25
3 Liverpool 25

I haven't got access to the results for those seasons but it's not a great stretch to realise that given the amount of wins during a season for the top 3 there'd be a fair few quid in the kitty at the end of each season if I'd thought about doing these bets back then.

And the beauty of it is that you can start off with just £10. I'm currently out of work at the moment but if I was working I probably would have doubled my original stake or maybe even stick £50 on the thing to start off with.

It's not going to earn you a fortune but it will earn you a decent profit.

not really, since you didnt even say how many liverpool won last year.
And we dont know which of those games you would have bet on, as sometimes you would be betting spanish teams too.

And please just say chelsea, its quite annoying.

He's only betting on the top three teams, and last year Liverpool finished fourth. I've done a similar calculation and I've worked out you'd need average odds of 1.4 on the games ManU won last season to break even.

Trust me i try this most weekends doing a multiple bets 4-5 teams and normally there is always a surprise result even if you study the form books of the teams. So i don't agree ;)

As long as you have plenty of patience and are content with your money growing little by little then it seems a decent thing to do on the side.

It's just I don't have much patience and like to see instant results, it's why I never do accumulators over 2 days if I can help it.

Yup, I never said it was a get-rich-quick scheme but you're better off putting your money on an Evens (or one that's close to it, give or take) gamble such as the one I'm suggesting each week rather than putting it on an accumulator, odds-on favourite (such as Celtic winning every week) or a long shot. ;)

I'm going to carry on doing it anyway, just thought I'd share my idea so that others could benefit too :)

It's not going to earn you a fortune but it will earn you a decent profit.

Isn't the fundamental flaw that you're going to get pretty terrible odds on the any of big four winning each week, (e.g. 1 to 4 on Utd Celtic this week). Yeah, there's a chance you'll win 25 notes, but they have to win 4 out of every 5 games for you to make money (using these odds as a slightly extreme example). The bookies know what they're doing.

For all you gambling types, Real Madrid look good value for tomorrow at ~7/5

Away to Juve who have been nothing short of horrendous this season whilst Real have been quite the opposite...

You appear to have missed the last part of my post, read again.

My bad* mate i read through it to quick. I tell you what though it is frustrating because with me lately it always seems to be the last team in one of them multi's that let me down. The last damn result, grrr...As you said though eventually it will come good and i only do it for a bit of fun.

4k, now that is lucky. I don't care how much you study the form books and team news to get right, what I'm guessing 6/8 teams in a multi, whom of which would have had to be at decent odds to all come out and win. Thats beyond knowledge, fair play though.

*Azza's thinking shall I have a go with 50 squid*

8-Fold:

Deportivo
Real Madrid
Man City
Plymouth Argyle
Leicester City
Peterborough
Bury
Wrexham
Kidderminster.

Come on peeps which teams are at decent odds who are looking good for this weekend. We should set-up a thread for every weekends multi picks. People's 8 fold picks, someone might have some inside knowledge, team news on the lower teams, a key player out or something.

Together we could become multiple winner ;)
