If we have any chance of challenging for the title, it's these types of games we need to win. In recent seasons our record against the other 3 big teams hasn't been the best, so we need to change that.

My prediction on Rafa's team:

Reina
Finnan Carra Hyypia Aurelio
Benayoun Gerrard Mascherano Kewell
Babel Torres

That's probably more what I'd like to see rather than what I think Rafa will play. Kuyt & Riise will probably start with Babel, Aurelio coming on towards the end, very much like tuesday nights team. I wouldn't be to bothered with that as we made Marseille look horrendous but I still think it's not our best team.

My prediction: 2-1 ;)

VdS
Brown - Ferdinand - Vidic - Evra
Ronaldo - Hargreaves - Anderson - Giggs
Tevez - Rooney

Keep the ball on the deck when it gets up top and I think Tevez and Rooney will have the better of Carragher/Hyypia. Should be a good game though.

More of a must win game for Liverpool than us, I think. I think their best bet would be to stick Crouch on Evra and just tell Torres to look for knock on's. They play the long ball game anyway so that'd probably suit them.

Fulham vs Newcastle Prediction team:

Niemi
Omosuzi - Hughes - Stef - Konchesky
Dempey - Murphy - Davis - Bouazza
Kuqi - Kamara

Something like that i think.

Will be a tough game, must win game for Fulham.

Who made Marseille look horrendous?

I turned over after 2-0 cos it was boring, but at that point it should have been 1-1.

Their heads obviously dropped but there'd been nothing in it up til then.

Typical anti pool comment from you but I'll reply anyway...

I thought you turned over because of pleat? I'm not sure about others but after a team had scored 2 goals in 11 minutes I certainly wouldn't turn over straight after because it was 'boring'.

Obviously they weren't the best but they were playing at home and were made to look horrendous.

lol had the officials done there job then Marseille would have been down to 9 men before they had that chance and who knows whether he'd have scored it anyway.

Im watching the game at a mates house with a few friends that are both scousers and mancs (which I am), gonna make an interesting atmosphere.

Reina
Arbeloa Carra Hyypia Riise
Gerrard Alonso Masch Kewell
Babel Torres

I'd expect Rafa to select Kuyt over Babel up front and I wouldn't be surprised to see Gerrard on the right with Alonso looking to be fit for Sunday. Hopefully Finnan is fit and we can be Arbeloa over to left back.

Depending on whether Alonso is actually ready to start, i wouldn't be suprised if we set up similar to the way we did vs Arsenal, which i think may well be our long-term formation with Babel and one other out on the wings:

------------Reina
Arbeloa--Carra--Hyypia--Riise
---------Mascherano
-------Gerrard--Alonso
--Kuyt--------------Kewell
-----------Torres

If Kewell isn't ready to play 2 games in 5 days then i'd like to see Babel start but i wouldn't be suprised if Voronin or Aurelio (if fit) played instead.

Well enough talk about the "big" teams in this thread for me :P

So Middlesbrough travelling to Derby, Rochemback wont be out because his suspension doesnt start until Sunday so he will miss the home game v West Ham. So im expecting Southgate to start with the exact same team as what beat Arsenal, however for me this game against Derby is the bigger one, this is a game we HAVE to win. Id be very disappointed if we travel to Derby and fail to perform, hopefully Tuncay will carry on this confidence he has got into the game and maybe bag himself another goal.

Boro have sold there allocation for the game, with a lot of fans travelling down as a memorial for Paul Debrick, gunna be some collections for money for his young kid.

Reckon we will win 2-0 hopefully.

Why did two players deserve to be sent off? No arguement about the defender - but there was no way the striker would have missed being 1 on 1 with Reina (with Carra already left for dead)

Man Utd for the win on Sunday (as has been the case for years!!)

Thats nice of you mate, cheers.

I would quite like you to win as well, not typically a fan of yourselves due to local rivalry but I feel you've been the subject of a miscarriage of justice and would quite like to see you blaze a trail through the league.

2nd red for the 2 footed tackle on Benayoun :)

You are right about the Marseille chance though, players never miss 1 on 1's do they? But saying that had the ref sent off the 2 Marseille players then they may well have not had that chance to miss anyway, but who knows they may have gone on to win so i'll take the 4-0 :)

yeah i definitely want United to win when they play next.
and why would you want something as silly as that to happen? We all know you're a Liverpool fan dan, stop messing around :p

That was after the "offside" though wasnt it?

Im not saying they dont, but the guy looked very confident and as it was a pretty "central" chance he could have gone either way (more chance for him to score and harder for Reina)

If they had been given the chance to get parity - I personally think Liverpool would have got a little nervy - but the linesman gave you the decision and the rest is history
