What are your views with regards to the state of football PRemier League TV rights going to be split between two broadcasters.

All I read is stuff aaying this is good for competition, but it really isn't. You don't cut a can of beans in half and sell it in two different stores. Only the fans of football will lose out because if a bidding war happens then that will push up the price and there will even more of a charge to see the other games on say NTL.

Nice to know the consumers interests at heart

I wouldn't mind if football matches had gone to terrestrial, but to go to someone like NTL in which you will need a whole new box or they will have to setup their own subscription channel is just a loss for football fans.

If they've gone to NTL i'm happy. ;) :p

However, if I'm being honest, showing all the major games on Sky or NTL is enough for me. Heck, MOTD is good enough.

Anyways now that Reading are up I can look forward to seeing some decent footy live. :D

On the plus side it may force "fans" to go to the games instead.
If that means teams like Stockport would get some extra fans rather than watch Man Utd on TV then Im all for it.

Tv is a hinderence , stupid KO times like 1:30 on sundays and 12 on saturdays only benefits the telly viewers.

Good post :)

It could work out well if some of the matches end up on non-subscription based channels, but chances of that are slim/nil.

It'll probably work out that we end up with Sky Sports + Prem Plus + Another seperate subs package.

That definitely does not benefit the viewer as the chances of Sky reducing their prices are lower than the chances of Premiership football ending up on BBC.
