I dunno you do have a Ken Bates which I'm pretty sure is like having a 36stone woman strapped to your back all day long
I'm bitter Leeds away in 2 weeks is £36 for a TV game! (choosing not to go to Leeds again and just watch it on sky)
That post only confirms what i have been saying all along re: La Liga.
If they change the cash distribution method from TV rev, Barca and Madrid are still a hundred million+ better off then the next best La Liga team, the two way horse problem still persists yet they are weakened relative to the PL sides.
Why would they (or the spanish FA) want to do that again?

Aren't Barca and Real's financial situations shrouded in mystery anyway?
The way the tv money is distributed in Spain is absolutely laughable, iirc the top two get more than everyone else combined, it's hardly a wonder that even teams like Valencia and Villareal couldn't get sponsorship when they hardly get any coverage.

I thought Real Madrid were bankrolled by the Spanish royal family.

In terms of Real, its pretty much all the above, they get silly TV money compared to all but Barca, and I always forget the actual story, something along the lines of Real in debt, Royal family over there bought out their training ground then let them have sole use for, basically forever, giving them a crapload of money basically?
They both have silly turnover's now, but both will be suffering from continual wage increases. I'm sure the paper talk was Ronaldo started on around 250k a week and was due a pretty ridiculous pay rise each year and due to be on not far off half a mil a week by the end of his contract. Barca have been pumping out the wages lately as well, sure Messi and Ronaldo might be worth 250k a week, really, because of the actual money you can get winning the champs league and sponsorship that goes with that.
But Ramos on silly money as he'll no doubt want(haven't a clue what other Real players are on though guessing Kaka/Alonso/Benzema are on pretty hefty wages themselves).

The training ground deal was done with the Madrid city council which is even more shocking as it was public money not the personal cash of the royal family

That's what most fans would have you beleive in their tunnel visioned view on how a business runs, personally i think bates has done a wonderful job at leeds and hope he continues to do so
Occasionally he sticks his nose in where it isn't needed but the minor lapses can be overlooked on the basis of how well he has done in getting leeds finances in order.

Yes, I agree wholeheartedly.
They own their own training ground, they are putting multi-million pound investments on the stadium they own, there's been a full fit-and-proper person check on the owners of the club, the owner isn't lining his pockets using his Radio station, we haven't alienated the whole of the media, we're not paying prem ticket prices for Championship games like we didn't do in League 1, money from player sales isn't being siphoned off rather than being invested in the team, club captain, player of the season and various other players aren't being sold off without any decent replacements being brought in and the owner isn't constantly alienating fans by referring to them as dissidents if they don't like them.
That's right, great stuff
