Footballers Rich List..

money from player sales isn't being siphoned off rather than being invested in the team, club captain, player of the season and various other players aren't being sold off without any decent replacements being brought in!

Just to highlight those points in particular, no one outside of the leeds board room knows whos choice those were, for all we know that could have been simon graysons doing, nothing has ever come out to say otherwise. To be honest that goes for a lot of the goings on around the club, considering our finances are openly viewable to the public and we can analyze them as we see fit.....also bates had every right to hold finances from SG seeing as every player he purchased was a waste of space, especially rachubka, in the past 4-5 months i doubt he had much faith in graysons choices.

He also has every right to call a contingent of the fans morons, seriously have you seen the leeds united facebook fan page? It's a disgraceful place at times and is without a doubt full of morons, only since facebook was invented have i realised why we have the reputation we do, which is sad really.

I'd rather see us financially stable, and slowly climb the ladder over the next few years, than fly up and in debt. Problem is football fans are impatient and incredibly fickle.

I think you've got your head in the sand to be honest. I didn't expect that anyone that can appear reasonable would think that way.

Can you please provide the information you have on finances? I'm expecting everything broken down into individual expenditure.

The huge problem at Leeds is the absolute lack of clarity in where the cash goes.

Lastly, do you honestly feel that Grayson would have chosen to sell Gradel, Howson, Schmeichel? Let Kilkenny, Beckford, Johnson walk for nothing? Howson was purportedly on £2k and was offered £2.5k. That's a Prem standard player who is your club captain.

It's a no brainer.

First off regarding the player sales, Grayson made some pretty stupid decisions so i wouldn't put it past him, not to mention a lot of the players reportedly didn't like him/didn't get on with him and lost all respect for him over the whole cheating on his wife incident.

Howson said himself he was getting to the age where he had to consider his options more thoroughly, if he wanted to play prem football he had to do it at the cloeset oppurtunity, schemeichal was a good tactical change, he may make some blinding saves but he wasn't vocal or experienced enough. Johnson was crap anyway, kilkenny was incredibly inconsistent. The only sale that has never made any sense to me is the gradel one.

The finances PDF was put on facebook about 6 months ago for the 2010-2011 financial year, if you ask on there someone will likely find it but i can't seem to find it now. It included all our outgoings and incomings (though didn't go into specific depth such as individual player wages)

There are certainly some aspects of bates that are questionable, but at the end of the day if you were in his position wouldn't you take a bit off the side? He's not a leeds fan, he's not passionate about the club, his only real care as a business man is that the club makes money and continues to make money, the higher up the leagues we get the more money he and the club will make and he knows that but that doesn't mean he should go all out with mass spending in the hope that we get there, he's taking us the long and financially safe route.

End of the day we'd likely still be rotting in league one maybe worse and enjoying the same headlines as portsmouth if he hadn't come along when he did.

We wouldn't have gone to League 1 if he hadn't come along. He didn't save Leeds he screwed Leeds and continues to do so. He presided over Leeds's drop to their lowest point in history. He was the shady owner that put the club into administration, via some offshore companies of course. He bought the club at a lower rate than everyone else. Why was it that he was the purchaser? He was also the seller.

The other offers on the table made more sense for the club and for it's creditors. By selling to someone other than Bates everything would have been better for everyone but Bates.

There is still no clarity on who owns Thorp Arch. There is still no clarity on who owns Elland Road - though there's multi-million pound investments going on as we speak. Who upgrades their council house to a mansion without buying it first?

The vote that swung the decision as to who was to be the new owner was that of Yorkshire Radio (as a creditor to the club). Who had just acquired Yorkshire Radio? Ken Bates.

Ken Bates had by far the lowest bid on the table. His was the only bid accepted. How?

I can't really argue that without knowing the financial ins and outs that were going on at the time, i don't really know anything about what happened behind the scenes back then, just what happened on the pitch (whcih was less than exciting lol).

Obviously i've had a closer eye on what's going on in recent years though, and as far as i'm concerned, as long as we're back in the prem within the next 3 seasons (a realistic view i think) and stable financially at the same time then i have no reason to dislike him. It'll be interesting to see what happens with snoddy though, if he goes i'll get skeptical but right now he's worth a lot to us and i wouldn't be surprised if some premiership clubs have an eye on him, what's left on his contract?

A year. Same with Clayton.

It strikes me as odd that you don't feel any animosity towards him. He's directly caused the problems we have now as much as Ridsdale ever did.
