Thanks, a lot, dont think ill boteher with them then. Just that I see people with them sometimes but there only like 1kg, its only like having a few extra pounds on ure arms.

When running drink 600ml of water (apparently the max amount of water an average stomach can take without 'slooshing') and take water with you as well...

Another 2-3lbs of bodyfat off and I'll be a very happy bunny! How I'm going to manage it though with the amount of alcohol I'm drinking I have no idea...
Hmm.. what a difference a week makes...

Bloody world cup! I've put on about 3lbs in the last week thanks to drinking like a fish, carry on at this rate I'll be needing to shed a stone by the time we actually WIN the thing!! :D ;)

Hit a new max max squat yesterday, very pleased indeed, 180k to parallel. :D :D , roll on 200k. I will catch oddjob 1 day ;) :p

good work!

im going to speak to the gym nutrition expert (hes also the body building bloke) about a 2 week split. doing 2 week building and then 2 week hard cardio. see if we can come up with something that will suit me and my available times :D

ive got 2 targets for the end of the year now.

under 17%bf
>400kg incline leg press

3rd would be to actually squat without significant noise from my knees, but theres not much i can do about that myself :/

I used to have noisy knees. But a few years of squatting and i don't any more. Try to work squats into your routine, obviously keep it light, but learning the movement well will help you a lot once you feel confident to up the weight.

I've noticed the same thing since doing squats. My knees used to crack all the time, now they don't. I'm sure doing the leg extension before didn't help much.

Cracking/clicking during bending/straightening the knees isn't anything to be worried about unless you get associated pain/locking or giving-way. Just make sure your knees bend in line with your 3rd toe during squats/lunges etc.

yeah thats what im doing, got to take it steady just in case.
it doesnt sound like the typical synovial fluid popping, thats my concern. but if people have had the same and worked through it then ill carry on while its not painful :D

Patellofemoral joint maltracking is a common cause of clicking/cracking in the knees.
It can be caused by over-pronation of the forefoot, tthe foot turning in at the heel(s) or week and/or tight muscles at the knee or hip. See your gp/physio if you are concerned about it

I finished my 11th and final week of Bill Starrs 5x5 today. I've made quite good gains and will probably go back to the routine before the end of the year. I had to change my diet because I wasn't eating enough calories so I've put on quite a lot of fat around my stomach so I'll be cutting for the next few months.

1 rep max old/new:

Squat 125/145K+ (Couldn't attempt a 1 rep max because the clowns decided to paint the squat rack :(. I lifted 145K 3 times last week so would hope to lift 150K+ at least once.)

Bench 105/117.5K

Deadlift 160/180K+ (I managed 3 reps at 180K on my last set but was too knackered to try any more so would hope it's closer to 190K)

Row 80/95K

My goals by the end of the year were to Deadlift 200K (shouldn't be a problem), Bench 140K (not sure I'll make 130K :( ) and Squat 160K (shouldn't be a problem).

Since I've had my bad shoulder, (about 1 year now) I've put on a fair bit of weight and am generally unfit.

My target this year is to get my shoulder back to full strength after having major surgery on it a few weeks ago, and to lose a stone in weight.

I’m going to the physio on Monday and hopefully will be able to do some light swimming soon. Then its a 5 month stretch before lifting any weights and play tennis. :(
