Some off-piste for you..

Just a old Cannon Ixus80 that was having to be kept warm (Lithium battery) in my snowboarding mitt but the ease at which the camera could be taken out and used proved very fruitful.

It's a pity that this one showed my lack of photo skills, the scene was stunning as everyone stopped to look at the view:

Les Arcs area, we also took the Express over to La Plagne area and did the glacier etc with one skier of the group managing to pip 65 MPH on his Garmin down a red run :D

As soon as I saw the first picture, I recognised it for Les Arcs. I only got back a few weeks ago, and want to go back already:(. Did you go right up to Aguille Rouge? The view from up there was amazing.

Aguille Rouge - yes although we did the red down. We took the black down from Grand Col called Refuge with it's sofa sized Mogels at which point us boarders took to the powder at the side.. Tuffles (pic below - the run starts with the little narrow bit to the left of the sign) from Col de la Chal was extreme in the fresh powder conditions :D with it's natural half-pipe it seemed to get more than it's share of snow before it opening out on to a complete blast fest.

We stayed just below Vallandry and got the lobster pots up to Plan Peisey. From there we could go right over the Les Arcs range and then take the Vanoise Express (largest cable car in the world) to Les Coches to give access to Bellecote (3417m) and La Plagne range to make use of our Paradiski passes.

I think the only part we didn't hit was Villaroger as it's out on a limb.

We continued from the first photo, down and across then followed the track past the rock outcrop next to the foreground guy's elbow.. at which point it steepens again before the second picture overhang/drop off. Then it's a powder blast before rejoining the piste at speed :D

I got my carving back up to scratch.. although "straight down" was the observation, the carving was only required to dodge the nasty bumps.

Nice, sounds like you made good use of the Paradiski area, I only managed to get around the Les Arcs area and a bit of Vallandry, because the low down snow cover wasn't too good. The off-piste was awesome though, first chance I got to use my board in proper powder conditions, and it handled just as I hoped it would. Got to wait until next season now before I can go again though. Guess I'll just have to put up with lots of snowdome trips till then.

Fortunately it's quite easy to get into snowboarding now that there are a fair few indoor snow places around the country. It lets you put the time in and get decent before spending money on a big holiday.
