For those that remember Dark Age of Camelot

After W:AR I wouldn't back this until I can see something worth while. Especially with a sub on top of buying the game.

I wasted two glorious years on Dark Ages of Crack - swore I'd never play another MMORPG again after that comedown.

Could be the best game on the planet and I still wouldn't back it.

So you back the kickstarter to fund the games development then pay a sub to keep it going, then when it fails to meet expectations it goes free 2 play with microtransactions.

ya played DAoC for awhile there - I only played midgard and I remember trying to come up with all the norse names for my characters and the name police would come and make you change em if they wernt up to snuff (cool).

to be honest I really didnt like some of DAoC's style of things but it was the best at the time so played it. they pretty much made a game to take away from the EQ crowd (which I never really liked) -

My fav pvp game was shadowbane; still had a blast in daoc thou -

I've been keeping an eye on this KS, and tbh, it's looking pretty exciting so far. They seem very keen to engage with the community and keep them happy, so I've pledged quite a bit. Hopefully it'll make its target.

Pledged for it myself, can't wait and seriously hope it gets funded. After 4 years of 'hardcore' DAoC only to get driven away (though I still have an active sub and log on every few weeks) by the game engine limitations I'm hoping the same great stuff makes it in.

I'm still missing the close community from the Prydwen server, it kinda got lost in the merge with Excal but hopefully a similar community can be found.

Jarakin?:p i recognise your forum name....(Misterjingo i recognise too and Divinious Oo)

I am going to pledge a good amount on Friday as i wish to be in the Alpha phases may even go into Internal Testing stages as i been very good with Alpha testing before in games.

Hope once it's released it's advertised very well, server caps are high and subscription fees are reasonable.

I personally find all current MMORPG's very poor for pvp....Guild Wars 2 is overated and WoW pvp is a joke.

Emain Macha being frankly the best map i've seen in an MMO pvp environment, it had everything you could want.

Agreed, Hadrian's and Odin's weren't too bad. I also preferred Pennines to the other 2 middle areas for some reason, probably because of the multiple relic raids that took place there because it was easy to sneak people in via the multiple valleys :D

And yeah, I put in for the $180 IT one myself.

Ah i remember you, nice to see you still around...i miss the DAOC people.(Add me on Steam if you play on there under Sycho with Phillies baseball avatar.)

Yeah IT might be best for former DAOC players who played regularly so they can tweak the game to perfection from our moaning. xD

Nah best area was Darkness Falls when it first opened though. :p

DF was fun, yeah, the fights that took place in it were amazing, getting a group to hide in there when they lost access so the other entrances could be camped for 30 minutes until the zerg arrived lol

Until the server messed up and people started pulling the Princes from the entrances by using GTAoE... THAT was fun :D

Some oldies cropping up I see ;)

I wasn't on Prydwen long (Karienal), jumped off to Camlann when that came about, but the community on Pryd was exceptional & DAoC was simply the best game I've ever played. Sorely tempted to pledge, even though I should be a grown-up now :D

I'll be playing this, still haven't found an mmo to match prydwens community.

Loved old frontier battles. And df was mega fun at beginning too.

Theres still an active classic DAOC server thats free to play - Uthgard

Not been on for months but theres 800 people online most days.

where do you get the client from ?

I have a lot of fond memories of my ShadowBlade in DAoC and wouldn't mind revisting the good old days :)

Here you go mate, it's easy enough to connect. Just download the client and then get DAOCportal to connect to the server:

http://uthgard.net/en/howtoconnect

Be aware it is old frontiers and no TOA, just the way it should be if you want to relive the good ole days. If you need a little help starting out I don't mind helping with a bit of gold, be nice to see some more new players and OCUK guys there.

Old Prydwen player here too, I was in GK at one point Misterjingo. (I played a fire wiz called Myddrin). Recognize some old names too like Sycho and USP :)

I remember you all, god i'm old now :P
I had a Minstrel called Uliea and Wizard called Gas. Spent most of my time in Lords of England. People remember the hacking incident at Alb portal keep in Emain? The multiple Legions that were spawned etc. lol

Uthgard is excellent to drop into every now and again too.

I'm thinking one of the stretch goals in the Kickstarter will be a Darkness Falls type of dungeon. Not sure if it will get that much higher than two million atm, depends on what they show over the next two weeks. I went for the $110 option since it works out about the same as i'd pay for a Collectors Edition if it went to retail.
