Hi all,

This is a question for those of you that use itunes. How do you find the coverflow bit of the software, do you like it? Do you bother filling in all the cover pictures etc? I do because it looks nice and i am i like my music library to look good. :p

But what i dont get is, what part of the song information is the cover flow cover linked to?

Let me explain what i mean...

I have just added The Ministry Of Sound The Annual 2008 to Itunes. It has picked up all the info, filled in all the names of the songs and the artists for each etc. It has labeled the album songs under MOS Cd1, Cd2 and Cd3. Thats great right, exactly what you would want.

But then in the coverflow bit at the top rather than giving me 1 blank cover to fill in or perhaps 3 for each cd, cd1 cd2 and cd3, it has given one for each song!!

Why is this?! Surly the cover is linked to the name of the album and therefore should be 3 covers that need filling in and not one for each song!?

That's because you're sorting by artist. Switch to sorting by album and you'll have an entry for each. If you're putting a compilation album on yourself, sometimes you have to select them all and choose 'part of a compilation' from the group options for it to work properly.

Personally I hate coverflow. For me it's a complete gimmick that spoils the simplicity of iTunes. I do generally fill in the artwork, but only because it looks nice on my iPod.

Oh right i got it. What i did was put under album artist MOS and its made it into three instead of about 50. But yea thanks, i know what you mean now i think.

What does it do when you choose part of a compilation then exactly?

I dont know how you dont like coverflow! I understand what you mean by gimmick, but for me one of the main reasons i liked having physical cd's rather than data on a PC was that i liked the artwork and to be able to look at the front covers. So for my coverflow is class! :p

Oh and what do you mean by simplicity of Itunes? Dont get me wrong i love the software, but i dont see what you mean? How is it any more simple than Windows Media Player or whatever?

Your right about the Ipod thing though, i have an Itouch and it looks great.

What i dont understand is how people can all all their random single tracks from all over the place into Itunes, some labeled, some not, some with covers, some with not. It looks a MESS people! :p

Coverflow was so much better at finding album data before apple took it over. :(

I wouldnt know i never make Itunes get album artwork for me. Dont you need an account to do that or something?

Its really easy to get the covers anyway, just google image the album names?

Mmm, if only people spent more time sorting their music than actually listening to it. Whatcha gonna do, eh?

I must admit, though, I've spent quite a while properly labelling all of my music, grouping compilations, etc. Oh and I'm not a fan of Coverflow, either. I find it far easier browsing through my music collection by artist rather than album, not to mention ablum cover as I have no idea what most of them look like.

You can listen while you label, can you not?! Multitasking, whatcha gonna do, eh?

Edit: Hahaha i thought that was an excellent reply, im impressed with myself!

It used to do the googling for it. When apple bought it they tied it into the iTunes store. Hardly any of my music is on there so it would find nothing anyway. It used to be a seperate application that could control iTunes, and could find artwork for even my most obscure stuff.

At first I thought it was a bit of a gimmick but now I use coverflow all of the time to find something to play. If I don't know what I feel like listening to then I just scroll through the covers and I'll find something.

Becaue I treated myself to an Itouch, I love coverflow - I use it on the desktop too but wouldnt miss it if it wasnt available

On the Itouch its just so brilliant even though at times it can be slow to tilt etc

What do you mean by this?

Ive just started using itunes, and on some compilations the tracks are not in the correct order, any ideas why? All the info for each track is the
