Force India launch thread

Will V J Mallya and Force India care what it looks like if they score regular points this season? Not in the slightest. McLaren the nicest one so far though.

FI were saying they will gain the most from the EBD ban, which is true I guess. They had reasonable pace but couldn't catch the top teams who would have spent a lot on that side.

What's with the nose camera mount thing? That permanent? Also, anyone pick up on Di Restas name decal sporting the Saltire next to it?

Traditionally, in terms of the sport as a whole, they chuck the them under GBR. Was wondering if that's changed.

Always been the case I think, I recall DC having the Scottish flag beside his name and certainly Di Resta had it last season.

Perhaps down to team/personal preference, wonder if anything stops LH/JB having different flags?

Why have FI and Caterham gone for this sort of U-shaped nose step? The Ferrari's seems more of a "height here needs to go to height there, so slope it is" logical, albeit ugly, choice. But the the actual middle line of the former two cars is fairly evenly sloped, it's just the sides that really accentuate the step. Why?

The 'shoulders' on the side are there to support the top of the suspension. I can only assume that Ferrari have a reason why they didnt drop the middle like FI and Caterham, possibly they have the drivers feet right up high inside the tub so don't have space to lower it?

God help any car that gets in the way of that nose! Fill it with balast?

There was talk of Toyota stuffing the centre section of their 2009 car's front wing with lead to try to adjust the weight distribution. The FIA were said to have frowned upon it on safety grounds due the ease at which a front wing can become separate from the car in a crash.

Fixed weight distribution would stop FI doing similar though.

Now they just stuff it with tungsten blocks instead.

I watched the launch on a YouTube video that was put up, from Sky Sports.

Apart from the host knowing nothing of F1 it was a pretty generic launch, but very much on par with the other teams that have the boxers nose.

I won't post the video for fear of copyright infringement but it's still online
