Hi,
I have a ford fiesta MK4 Facelift.
The driver side door lock doesn't work, the key just twists. I am able to unlock the door by unlocking the passenger door however it is a pain in the backside!
I have had a Google and i am thinking it could be the barrel any ideas? As i heard it is a common fault but i want to avoid spending money if i can.

I was wondering if i swap the driver side and passenger side locks over will i be able to unlock the door from the driver side?
(Or is that a silly idea)

The connecting rod, from the lock barrel lever to the lock, has probably come off or the clip/lever is broken - nothing too drastic.

You can swap parts over apart from the actual lock mechanism, which would come in LH/RH versions iirc

I expect the key is turning in the barrel but the lever on the back isn't moving, that would likely be the hole in which in the end of the key barrel slots into is worn or broken i.e. a crack in it that opens the hole up as you twist the key. Or the circlip has popped off.

Just as you said the lever wasn't moving on the back. I just switched over the locks. I was going to see if i could repair the lock but it seems like it would be more hassle than it is worth.

I think it could also have been caused when the car was almost robbed.
