I just now thinking about this car (New and 2006 model) and I have nearly signed the papers. I can get over £2000 of the list prize and my car I want to part exchange with is a ford Ka, so it helps that I am buying from ford. I think I am going for pearl black :)

What do you guys think of this car, whats your experience with it?

I want to upgrade... I want something more than just a red car with diapers :D

new 06 model or older models?

the 06 and the mk6 models are stunning, I wouldn't mind owning one.

I have the Ford Fiesta on an 55 plate. Its a nice car to drive. Hand button up front to open the boot, CD/ radio player gets louder as you go faster. Handles well.

Don't say you are getting the one with bug eyes? Although it has an MP3 player link which is a bit good.

A brand newie?

It will be a depreciation magnet, get a nearly new one, or something different.

IIRC it isnt as sporty as the previous zetec-s, due to the presence of the ST, so if you want a "hot hatch" try something more along the lines of a 172.

Who cares for depreciation! Saying that, Fiesta's sell wel 2nd hand though. Think how many are driving around today.

We brought ours brand spankers so we could have the new reg at the time :) and well I persononally like having a brand new car from start.

Well you must be on good money. Cause i certainly dont like throwing a few grand down the drain.

Anyways, how long you been driving? If it isnt long and your upgrading buy something cheaper. You WILL get bored of a Zetec S in time :( So buying a brand new one isnt a good idea.

Well you see it'll be run into the ground and then another one brought so when we come to buy a 'newie' it'll be worth sod all anyway.

But if you have the money, buy brand new.

You poor man, destined yourself to running a brand new fiesta into the ground.

For most people, likely to include the OP, depreciation is a worry whenever getting a new car.

Apparently you dont care about money, good for you. Enjoy the fiesta.

So a 6 month to a year old car is gonna be run into the ground? Huh?

I've got one of the new facelift fiestas and think it's good, build quality seems better than my old 04 civic, and if you want a small car it's about the best you can get.

Yep, 15 years or so down the line. It'll be good for scrap roughly...

Good on you spaz sticking up for the Fiesta in the other thread.

But no-one seems to want to buy a brand new car on these forums. Always 2nd hand.

Well if your not into cars and use it it to go from A - B then yes your getting your moneys worth. If you change your car every few years then brand new is a stupid option

The MK6 Fiesta Zetec S is nice but id far rather have a 52 plate MK5 Zetec S. a lot more "Fun"

Looks better too :)

And you wont lose too much money on it either, well not like you would a new MK6 Zetec S

Thanks for all the replies :p

Sorry about not replying until now. The last 2 days I have been working strange times. Up at 3 in the morning and working until 7 in the evening. I appreciate the debate about the new and old and the money you will loose. I can get £2000 off the new 2006 model, which only one dealer has offered me, which would help me feel better about the depreciation...

However, that’s not what I wanted to know... I want to know what peoples experience is with this car. :)

Yer it's alright, nice to drive and the handleing is ok. Usual ford standard really, nothing at all fancy or amazeing about it. Yes it's the new 06 model ( ) but it's really the same as the older model. Not at all what I would be spending that amout of money on and even with money off the list price the dealer will still be makeing a lot of money and youll still be looseing a lot of money from depriciation.

So you get £2000 off the list price and your part-exing your Ford Ka? make sure he gives you a good price for it or I can see exactly why your able to get the £2K off the list price ;)

Edit: How much would it cost you and how much would he give you for your Ka? Theres a few newish regs knocking about on auto trader.

2005 FORD Fiesta Zetec S,
54 reg. 10000 miles, black, fsh, alloys, cd player, aircon, e/window, c/locking, 2 years warranty with Ford.. £7,495. ono

No, we have brought a brand new one which will be run till it can't start up anymore and then buy another one.... In about 15 years....

First of all where are you taking it?

Also i feel sorry for you wanting to keep a Fiesta for 15 years. If you want a newer car buy one a year old or whatever.
