Had a lift home in a mate's Golf last night and was dazzled by the blue dash lights.

I've spotted some replacement mk1 Focus dials for £30 which look pretty cool, how easy are these to fit?

I have no intention of doing it myself, but would it involve a fair amount of work, therefore a hefty labour charge?

There's only one pic on the site, which is of the white dials. They do plenty of colour combo's. I'm tempted by silver with blue lighting.

Not really, just changing the colour of the dash backlight from green to blue. The green looks a bit naff to be honest so I fancy a change, just want to know how much work would be involved.

A lot of work and it still look chavvy

in what way is having white dials chavvy?
Your comments are more chav than his questioning about having white dials :p

for a better answer, head over to ffoc or something :]

White dials don't always suit a car.

It's on of my pet hates, doing a visual mod because it will look better, without actually stopping to think "will it?"

Examples:
-White dials, can look good, my brothers did, but sometimes just don't work.
-Large chrome exhausts, almost never look good, but countless people fit them because "they look good, the adverts sad so, it must be true, what do you mean it looks ****?".
-Chrome windscreen wiper wind deflectors, they look so shiny and cool on their own, of course they will look good on a car...

It's like, picking a really good base riff, a really good guitar solo, some excellent drummage, and mixing it all together with stunning vocals from somewhere. All you get is something that sounds like a bad junk band.

A tastefully modified car needs to be carefully composed, you can't just stick all the generic mods on.

Lol, how were my comments chavvy - I'm the complete opposite of chav :)

White dials are OK, blue dials definitely arent. They work in a Golf because they're meant to be in a Golf, not in a Focus. In the same way Lexus lights dont belong on a saxo

Wat? They only look good because the initial designers thought so but that means it cannot be transpired to any other car?

There are plenty of mods that are not on a single model in a range and look good.

Possibly, maybe its just me. If I saw a focus with blue dials, I'd know they didnt belong there so it wouldnt look right to me.

Many people wouldnt notice but it just wouldnt look right in my eyes

Wrong. you are throwing insults for no reason what so ever, looking down your nose at someone for suggesting they do something that you think is wrong.
you are showing more pointless attitude than the op.

so, yes, you are being more chav than the op :]

Each to their own, by I base my opinion based on the merit of the mod not whether it should or should not be there according to spec.

Much like my taste in music, if I like it, I like it. If not, I don't.

Depends on the mod I guess, I prefer them to be functional rather than fashionable but each to their own. This sort of thing would be VERY easy to get wrong, where its not quite lined up etc

Yes, changing dials can be a nightmare - you put it back together and realised you left greasy finger marks/dust/other dirt on the back of the plastic = headache.

Functional mods are fun and all but a good dose of tasteful fashion mods can set a car out from the crowd and finish it off nicely! Thank god for individuality or we would all be driving matte bland coloured cars that all looks the same! :D
