hallo,

First off not got a clue about this so let the flaming commence :p

I currently have a Ford Focus Zetec 1.8, it didn't come with the trip computer.

Im wondering can I pick up the dash section needed and get it fitted or are there more bits n pieces I would need?

Mk.1? Mk.2?

Either one I'd be inclined to say no, I'd say that would require some probing in the ECU to get it to work, but don't quote me.

yeah was wondering if it would be a bundle of wires with a conenctor on the end of if it would involve a lot of wiring and messing around.

I'll have to get back to you on the Mk1/2 I'm not 100% sure

I believe that quite a few cars without a trip computer have the ability to have one fitted. You'd stand a better chance by asking the owners club. There'd definitely be someone there who'd know all the details.

Will have a look into that

Thankyou very much mate :)

Wanna see if I can find out my mpg and why the diesel appears to be gettin eaten pretty damn fast:(

You can work out your mpg without spending money on retrofitting a trip computer.

Probably more accurate if you do it yourself as well.

Was more to see at which point it was guzzling deisel, but does this look right.

0.22 gallons / litre
50l Tank > 25% = 12.5L
12.5*0.22 = 2.75Gallons

Last couple of times Ive hit around 100-110 when I hit a
quarter mark

so 100/2.75 = 36.36 mpg?

That sound about right for a 1.8l Diesel Focus?
Jaunt to work and back every day is pretty much most
of the driving I do.

Don't do it by the fuel gauge.

Brim.
Reset trip counter.
Drive.
Brim - note litres added.
Check Trip Counter.

trip counter*4.52/litres added = mpg.

It might be that you are putting in more than a quarter, as quite often the fuel can be added beyond the fuel gauge 'full'.
