Ford Focus - which one?

Always a pleasure to read your posts when your in full flow!

I don't even own a car and have no desire to , but even I can see a supercharged Jag V a focus isn't exactly a fair comparsion with regards to running costs etc etc

You've obviously missed the point, and refuse to concentrate on anything other than the engine size and the supercharger.

I've already kinda stated it wasn't a serious post (maybe I should have been clear, although others realised this), But it was to highlight what you can buy for less money spec wise, granted I didn't realise the age of the car.

I suspect you'll probably reply to this post too, saying that I'm wrong due to the 4.2 litre v8 supercharger, and the fact its 9 years old, not a 1.6 focus......

You've obviously missed the point

You've missed the point by so far you'll need a bank loan to pay for the taxi ride back to the point in hand :p

and refuse to concentrate on anything other than the engine size and the supercharger.

No, I'm concentrating on the fact that I know a little bit about running old prestige cars and how completely different it is to running a Focus 1.6. I'm converted - I'd take my current 10 year old 5 Series over *any* Ford Focus, any day of the week. But the OP isn't me. He isn't you. The very fact he's narrowed his search down to 6 different identical 9 month old Fords tells us a lot about what matters to him when chosing a car. And almost nothing about a 9 year old S-Type R will meet his requirements. Nor the requirements of most of the motoring public.

I've already kinda stated it wasn't a serious post

So what was the point?

But it was to highlight what you can buy for less money spec wise, granted I didn't realise the age of the car.

If you have any more shocking revelations that are as astounding as 'You can buy a car 9 times older for less money than a 9 month old Focus' do let us know.

I suspect you'll probably reply to this post too, saying that I'm wrong due to the 4.2 litre v8 supercharger, and the fact its 9 years old, not a 1.6 focus......

Why do YOU think the sort of person who looks to buy low powered nearly new Fords would instead prefer to buy an old Jag with 400bhp?

Nice. You've just stated everything again but in more detail, just as expected.

I know what your saying is right, I'm not trying to argue that point, and I 've already said I overlooked the age. Maybe I should just stop replying.

Anyway when an OP post links to several cars for sale, all the same car asking which to buy, it's pretty much guaranteed that the OP is going to buy that car in whatever colour they decide to buy, no matter what other cars are suggested, maybe that's what tempted me to post the jag from the other thread.

I still think it shows that you can get a lot more car for your money. Just pay more for a newer model.

Thats not really true though is it, that one is £4k less but isnt from a main dealer and is a year older.

True, but there's no need to go out and spend 4k more just because it's a few months newer and supplied by a main dealer.

Yeah but there's no need to go out and spend 4k more just because it's a few months newer and supplied by a main dealer.

The newer a car is the bigger a difference 'a few months' makes. In this case the one you posted is a third older than the one he posted. It'll also not have a VW warranty, the other one will.

I don't disagree that £12k on an old shape Passat is a tad bonkers but neither do I agree you can buy a comparable one for £4k less.
