Ford options

I am thinking of going diesel!

Why?

If the answer is:

'I really find the way a diesel drives appeals to me'

Then great.

If the answer is:

'I want to save money on fuel'

Then think very carefully then get out the pen, paper and calculator. Unless you do like 20-25k a year then the money it will cost to change will almost certainly not be saved by moving to diesel.

Money mainly, brought a house, pumping around £40 a week into the ST!

PS I like the torque too!

Well they don't do a Focus ST TDCi you need a Mondeo if you want an ST TDCi, and by Titanium it sounds like the new model Focus - trust me you will be spending many thousands more to upgrade than you can ever hope to save in fuel.

If you want to do it becuase you fancy a new car and like the way a diesel drives then go for it but dont kid yourself it'll save you money becuase it will not :)

The last thing i'd be doing is spending more money un-necessarily then.

Oh and BOUGHT, you didn't BRING your house anywhere!

Sorry Mondeo! its cheaper to insure, low tax

Low tax? Hell do it then, trade your £8000ish car in for one thats about £15000 becuase it'll be 40 quid a year cheaper to tax :p

Only joking with you, I'd trade a Focus in for a Mondeo ST like a shot without hesitation but I wouldn't do it thinking I'd save money becuase I wouldn't :)

Point taken, yeah want another car too, got that bug again.

in answer to the original question. Yes you can trade your current car in even if it's on options. they'll give you a trade in price for yours, work out how much you owe on your exisiting "loan" and go from there. Been there, done that...

The answer to your original question is yes. Contact the finance company and obtain a settlement figure for the outstanding amount on your car. Once you have this you can shop around and the dealer will be able to give you an accurate finance quote on the new car.

I've had my ST TDCi since December and it's a fantastic car. Its great to drive in any situtation - from hooning around B roads to sitting in city traffic it never feels out of place. The steering is perfectly weighted and quick geared for fast driving, the suspension is firm but the damping is excellent so the ride is never crashy, there is nothing in the way of body roll and it has phenominal grip to the extent I haven't managed to find the limit yet and I have tried to provoke it. It is extremely comfortable and has plenty of kit too.

If you want one the Ford dealers are usually very expensive. There are plenty available through other channels though, so you will find them at independants and car supermarkets where they will usually be £1-£2k cheaper.
