Forget F.E.A.R. and Doom 3....

This isn't really a "which game was scariest?" thread. I'm a huge fan of SS2 (even worked on some FMs for it, though I wasn't exactly great at it) and it's a great game for atmosphere, creepiness and scariness...But it's a completely different game to AvP aside from the FPS part and the pooing yourself part.

I thought it was, he said to forget FEAR and Doom3, AVP is the scariest game - do we agree ?
Or is he asking if we agree that the game is awesome ?

AvP the original was the most awesome game ever, probably by far my favourite game of all time.

Never forget the first time i came up against a facehugger, see the beeping on the scanner, and hear the scuttling of its "fingers" and just looking around wildly, then it jumped on me and i fell off my chair clutching my face!

It was a great game at the time, very tense, really caputered the feeling from the first few films.

However, I went back to it a year or two ago for a quick blast and it felt very, very dated.

AVP1 was for me the scariest game i've ever played. i remember doing the alien missions and thinking it wasn't all that and trying marines with my brother looking over my shoulder ready to have his go when i had died.

never played anything like it since.

The graphics aren't that noticeable as Marine - it's so dark the dodgy res textures aren't so apparent :)

AvP2 is far worse in multiplayer, though I hear the single player is relatively fun.

AVP1 I found so much better in single player but multiplayer was so much better in AVP2.
Nothing like Survivor in leadworks!

AvP is cool. Been rewriting the code to use Direct3D 9. Aiming to port it onto the xbox at some stage, though I dunno how easy it'd be to play due to the speed of the damn aliens :p

AvP on the Atari Jaguar.

May not be the most graphically intense game on the planet, but boy oh boy did I make the girlfriend VERY unhappy with all my soiled undies.

It had the feel that no PC game has ever given me.

FEAR scary? Where?

Oh right... That bit where.... No... Oh, what about the ...

Never mind.

foooook doom3/F.E.A.R/AvP they may make you jump for first ten min then you expect anything after that

its silent hill what holds the "literly sh*ting your self" trophy,i think......when you hear that radio fuzzing and you know your abouts to get raped by some imbred

FEAR and Doom 3 just make you jump definitely. There are a few spooky parts to both games when you listen to logs on computers or messages on the phones. Also theres the hospital level on FEAR which I thought was a bit creepy as well. The things that make me jump are those weird half-invisible cyborg things that jump at you from no where. Very hard to kill. Remind me of the ninjas off Half Life 1
