why is it that whenever someone starts a thread with a video/joke/picture/whatever, someone always has to proclaim that it's older than time itself? to the people that do this: what do you achieve by this? if you physically need to get this information to us, or your heart will explode, then carry on - i dont want to cause unnecessary death...but if you're doing it for the benefit of the other forum users...please stop it.

Its an attempt to assert their superiority - because they have already seen it they are therefore (and by definition) cooler than the thread starter and everyone else that didnt see it the second it was released on to the World Wide Wibbly Web :o
 
The ones that get on my goat are the, "that's old, but I lol'd" type comments - so you found it funny; any need to tell us it's old?

Seriously, yes, it does grate after a while, but it's as much a cultural thing as an internet thing. How many times have you heard people say that a TV comedian's jokes are old?

Still, we all know that the old jokes are usually the best ones, so take it as a compliment. :)

Some people might be doing it for the reasons you suggest. Other people might be 'just saying' :) ie. being conversational.

btw, I posted in a thread earlier to say something was four years old, but I didn't know that until I watched it and the date came up at the end - I hadn't seen it before.

it was that thread that sparked this one, but not your post. i actually laughed at yours because it sounded like you were extracting the urine from the people im moaning about (and it is just a moan :p)
 
What makes me laugh about this is that most of the time i didn't see it first time it was posted so am glad it was reposted.
Those that post repost must feel that everyone sees every thread and has done since the forum begun.

Can i just say i HAVEN'T and nor have others. GO AWAY. :p

that's what was funny about the thread that started this one. this one guy posts "omgz, this is lyke t3h old" and everyone else posts "haha, not seen that before :D"
