I put in an order for a bunch of components and for a Lian Li O11D EVO case. Only after placing the order, I realised this case comes with no fans!

Now, the mobo/cp/memory bundle I chose comes with a "EK Water Blocks EK-AIO 240 D-RGB All In One CPU Water Cooler".

What extra fans should I add to the order?

I guess main questions are do you want RGB or not, and what is your budget?

In the budget end, Arctic P12 and P14 are good value and quite nice looking. Good performance too, I like to buy bulk packs, I've found one of my 5 makes a droning noise at some speeds. Sounds a bit like a hard drive spinning up. I just swapped it out for the spare.

You could if course go with the Lian Li fans which are mega top end budget wise, I think... But hey, brand matching. You could also go with fans that matches EK cooler.

I care not at all whether they are RGB. I am more concerned with how I am going to have to configure them and now many I will need. I'm a bit lost on that front. I'd be happy to go with the Lian Li pack of 3 for £45 if all I need to get is 3, but if I am looking at 10 fans (which seems ridiculous to me, but I keep seeing the case set up like that in photos), then I will probably not spend another £150 on this.

If you want matching, the EK ones are Vardar Evo D-RGB.

I personally have gone for the 10 x Arctic P12 PWM PST A-RGB for my Evo - really like the fans and can be used with a standard 3 pin ARG-B hub - Switched from Arctic Bionix (dont forget the Evo also needs to use an A-RGB header for the front strip)

Where are you planning to mount the all in one cooler?

Depends what you're cooling really, but I'd say you should only need 1-2 intake and 1 exhaust in general. As you have a liquid cooler that will take care of some of this work as well e.g. you could have 2 intake fans at the bottom of the case, and the cooler is the exhaust at the top.

Unless you have mega high power components that's usually quite adequate. The 011 is a case largely aimed at full water cooling IMO.

Based on this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAeoVEY5JRk I think I'll go with a normal horizontal setup for the GPU (4070Ti), and the AiO cooler mounted at the top. So that leaves me with maybe 3 fans intake on the side panel, and 1 exhaust at the back.

Should be ok right?

Exactly what i was going to recommend, if not going full custom loop - depending on GPU design, the bottom fans can sometimes affect the GPU negatively anyway - Here's mine (excuse the mess, its temporary till my GPU block arrives and I can hard pipe it!) - Was also before I replaced 4 of the fans with Arctic A-RGB ones!

Lian Li Infinity in mine and yep doesn't get warm

I've got the dynamic rather than the Evo so I think the only difference is I don't have space where the traditional exhaust fan would go. But still have space for three on the bottom, top, and side.

I've got a kraken AIO that runs on the side, I've just ordered some white arctic fans for the bottom and will probably leave the top empty.

But why? I don't understand why a standard sized case and standard hardware need 9 fans. Reminds me of the case made entirely of fans someone made.
My setup is the same layout although I have my rad on the side versus top and use noctua chromax fans (I've also got 2x60mm noctua round back on hd cage... I have a 'superstition' about no cooling on storage).
Why... simple, active bottom to top airflow to remove heat from the case as well as the components... it's not like high end hardware runs cool or anything these days.

Do I need '10+fans'... probably not but my office does get pretty warm in summer and in all honesty, I had 10 mounting points so I filled them and then get to enjoy running them really slowly and quietly, if I had less fans I would likely have a noisier pc setup.

If it was me I'd leave the bottom empty and put the extra fans on top

I had contemplated it. The problem I think is that the kraken is drawing air from in the case and exhausting it out the side. With heat rising it'd be a bit pointless having fans at the top blowing air in, so they too would have to exhaust. But that then means you've got nothing pumping air into the case, almost creating a vacuum, air will then only get pulled in by air pressure through the vents.
