Hi guys

Ive put a second hdd in my pc and whenever i try to format it in windows i get this message

"windows was unable to complete the format"

any ideas on how i can fix this?

thanks

If it was me I would just get clever, insert the Windows install disk, boot from it and at the beginning if you select a custom install you can delete/format partitions (make sure its the right disk!!!), just wipe the disk and hit the restart button and go back to the desktop.

Does the disc have data already on it? What format was it in? NTFS, FAT32 etc.

Download Gparted and burn the .iso onto a disc. Boot from it the way you would a windows disc. Take a look at the disc info from there and try and format it from there.

If not... perhaps it's faulty. Try doing a scan on it using seatools.
