Hey,

I need help trying to format my SSD for Windows 7.

I am going to be installing my 1TB HDD initially and installing Windows 7.

Once it is installed I will turn it off. Put my SSD in to SATA1 and switch my 1TB HDD in to SATA2.

I will then go to System > Administrator > Format and select my SSD to be formatted so Windows 7 can see it when it boots.

Then I will restart the system and install Windows 7 on to my SSD.

I will need to wipe my TB HDD completely to get rid of Windows 7, does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks!

Hatton

Why not just install it straight on your SSD, remember to set your Bios setting from IDE > ACHI before you install Win 7. ;)

When initially booting up to install Windows 7 on to my SSD it didn't read it and went straight to my HDD.

My SSD is a OCZ Agility 3 60GB and, according to the manual, comes "un-formatted".

It also says "it is possible to format the drive under DOS (what's that?) or within the Windows environment under My Computer."

I need to format the SSD before I can use it. When I plug it in I can't seem to find it in the Windows environment in order to format it!

Can someone help me out?

As I said, I tried to install it to the SSD first time but it didn't appear in the BIOS drives. Will changing the setting from IDE > ACHI change this? If so, where abouts can I find that setting in the BIOS?

Hi, read your manual to find ACHI setting in Bios, make sure your SSD is set as the 1st HD and your 1TB HD set as 2nd again read manual. You install SSD just like anyother HD, if you are not sure how to install WIN 7 and format your drive during installation read up on it plenty info on net. :)

in windows with the ssd plugged in go to start and type in disk manager in the search bar.it will show up there and you can then format it.until you do this it won't show up in windows

Yes! This is what I was looking for. Windows 7 is now recognising the SSD and is installed on it.

Thanks :)

What OP probably means is format ssd before he stand alones OS on it, as you know windows creates useless 100mb partition. After that, ssd to sata1, set achi, off u go
