I have a 250GB drive that was in my old 2nd pc.

It was taken from a 2nd PC i have.

In windows it formats as 215GB

Which i thought was strange as my main SATA drive is also 250gb but shows up as 232gb.

I think it is because - the last PC it was it (al Dell PC) has the drive as 2 partitions the missing 15gb been the partition that has the restore image, drivers files etc on it.

How can i format the drive to get the full space from it - windows only picks up on one partition been about 215gb

You need to go into Administrative Tools, then to Computer Management.

Click Disk Management. From there you should be able to delete/move/make partitions as you see fit.

Once done just format the drive, you can do that in there also, or you can right click the drive in explorer and select Format.
