Formatting an External HDD

I just bought a 2.5" 500GB hard drive and a caddy and set it all up.

However, the computer has recognised it but it is not showing up in 'Computer' so I cannot format it.

Any help is much appreciated.

Control Panel/Computer Managemant/ Storage see if it appears in there.
