Formatting HDD problem

Hi all,
I am currently in the process of installing Win98se on a new HDD on an old machine. Formatting gets to 24% then nothing happens.

Any ideas?

Corrupted CD or possibly even hard drive although equally it could be almost anything including Ram as another fairly likely candidate. Have you tried the CD on another machine? If you haven't already done so then when offered select a full format for the hard drive.

Ok, tried to format the HDD in the rig below and the same thing happens so I guess the drive is faulty.

Does windows98se even support new larger drives? that might be the problem, not sure.

have you tried fdisking it first?

It is only 20gb so I do not think size is a problem. As I said in post 4 I have tried to format using the rig in my sig running XP Home and get the same result. Will try fdisk though.

Definitely a borked Hard Drive mate. Had this happen to me a few times!
