If this is in the wrong section please move it.

I am trying to install windows on my pc on a 300 gig hard drive. But its got a partition. So its 200gig on one and 100 on the other. The 200 gig partition is full of data so cant delete it as i need the info. I want to install windows on the 100 gig partition. But windows keeps making the data partition the c drive and wondows partition as a d.

How can i change this so wondows is c and the primary partition?

I'm not sure you can. It's do with the ordering of partitions, IIRC.

Did you partition while Windows was installed, and make the data drive the first partition?

As a rule, Primary partitions come first, then Extended partitions.

So if you had two drives, each with a primary and two extended partitions, the drive lettering should go like this:

Partition 1 2 3
.Drive 1: C E F
.Drive 2: D G H

Would'nt know, never been too fussy about drive letters to bother trying it.

Currently my Windows is on F:/ , which doesnt really matter, its only a letter. Works no different to if it was on C:/
