Formatting my backup drive

I want to format my backup hard drive (and will be using it again for backup) but I am still deciding between a full format or quick. What would you guys do? Also, How long would you think it would take my 500gb seagate barracuda 7200RPM drive to do a full format?

Full format would be fairly pointless, what benefit do you expect to get from it? I always use quick format on drives which I know are working, this goes for usb drives, PC OS drives and even on server install.
