Hello folks, Ive got a few old SSDs Id like to format and sell off.
Is there any special tool that enables me to wipe these securely?
(They are Samsung EVO range of SSDs).

Thanks.

Quickest response ever :)
Thanks, tried this with the EVO 840 but says this drive does not suppor this feature when I try to secure erase... any thoughts?

wa? it says on the samsung site it supports the 840. You could just format it couple times on quick format with different file systems I would think. I didn't think data was easy to get back from SSDs once they are formatted anyway.

Try this link;

840 EVO SATA III 2.5 inch 250 GB SSD | Samsung Support UK

Thanks for your help Bouton. Are you linking to the Magician app? Its the same version am I afraid....

So bizzare :\

There's people in forums been saying they getting the same message about different versions of SSD's so sounds like it's a samgun software issue. Format it in windows a couple of times with different format types NTFS/FAT32/EXFAT e.t.c should do the trick. A full format on your last go.

I think for a secure erase to work which I suspect is what the Magician software will do, the drive needs to be connected to a SATA port with AHCI enabled.
