Hi,
I've just come to format my PC and for some reason I can't seem to get it to happen. Am using Asus A8V Delxue Mobo, 160Gb SATA-1 Hitachi Deskstar HDD, however when I come to format using the windows CD my HDD is not deteced, even though windows detects it fine when i boot up the system. The mobo has 2 onboard RAID drivers (Promise and VIA), however I am not currently using any form of RAID setup, is there some sort of 3rd party RAID/SCSI driver that I would need to provide when the text "Press F6 now for 3rd party RAID/SCSI driver blah blah blah" pops up?

Thanks

That's what I thought, however when I use the 378ATA driver Makedisk.exe and then reboot using the floppy and pressing F6 it isn't recognised on Windows setup and just says "Please insert Floppy A: containing drivers" or something along those lines. Could my floppy disk be dead?

Have managed to get the 378ATA drivers on a floppy and loaded them in the formatting setup. However every time I reach the stage where all the pre-setup details have been loaded and I press Enter to format, the screen says that no HDD was detected and I have to quit. I have the drive plugged into the SATA 1 port, as this is detected in Windows when it boots normally.
If I use any other SATA port then I am asked to specify a RAID array, so this is clearly not the cause of the problem.

Any thoughts?

Unplug al the othger HDD's.
Leave the one you want the O/S on in and then boot up with the windows disc in the drive.
Press F6 when prompted and install the RAID drivers from the floppy.
should work then.
