As per thread title, I have a windows partition which I'd like to re-format due to XP starting to hog again.

Is there a way I can keep all my current games[Especially Steam games]/apps after the re-install?

This picture which give you an Idea of what I mean:

Drive C to clean - Rest to 're-use' instead of re-install.

Thanks :)

no because i would have thought there would be registry keys , and DLL which would need to be installed and re-registerd by the applications :(

Yes and no, some games require registry key as Stig said, however, some games do not and will still run, you just need to create a shortcut to their .exe files and try them after you re-install windows, Steam will need to reinstall.

or if your feeling upto it you can use some type of program to backup certain registry keys then restore them when you got your new MSdos up and running :D

yeah, I just had the exact same thing happen to me. I had to reformat my system partition as windows XP just went crazy bad. some things work fine after but i felt much safer doing a major reinstall anyway.
