Formula Boinc 2016

Midas will be next need to figure out why she won't boot. I'm on NFS so until someone tells me otherwise that's what I'll be doing, are there any opptomized apps I should be using again I canna mind? Getting old !!

What's wrong with midas, what happens when you try to boot? You can use a usb stick to log the crash dump if it partially boots.

They appear to have had a hardware failure and stats from June 2015 are sitting out there. They're working on rebuilding the correct stats.

OK thanks, fair enough, makes it more exciting ;)

Powers up, no beeps or anything I get the cpu initialize Q-Code and it does nothing else, no signal to monitor or anything.

I don't know, It's not similar to the problem I had. I tried to disable speed step so that the xeons where on turbo all the while, even when idle, sometimes my clock speed is the idle speed even when all cores are in use, anyway I ended up killing the MB, mine just looped, I do think something was wrong in the first place as all I did was alter the turbo & c-state ..etc. never again though, I don't touch it now.

Hey guys I've gutted Midas now in desperation to try get it running again. Quick question which I already asked on CPU sub forum but can I run my engineering sample Xeon in my Asus X99 Sabertooth?
Asus support says it will run the 14 core 2.6Ghz version but mine aren't retail so not sure?

Also can someone recommend two small or cheap 2011-3 cpu air coolers I'm thinking to put it all back to air including the 780ti's (I kept the coolers for them)

I don't think them being ES makes any difference, I remember CaptainUnlikely saying he ran his 14 core ES chip in an x99 gigabyte board.

I used a couple of Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo's before I watercooled, they were OK, temps generally were in the high 60s under load, no GC though.

DISASTER just happened ! I flashed the BIOS with an even newer version with everything disconnected except on set of memory and cpus. I powered on the Z10 board and there was an almighty pop and smoke started pouring out from the board. Quickly pulled the plug but I'm betting my board is dead now. I'm absolutely gutted here I can't try it again like that gonna have to hope the cpu's are ok and try them in my x99.

I can't afford a new dual board now I'm redundant, gonna go away and cry for a minute :(

I just had a close look at the hardline pipe I had used for one section and its cracked ! I must have twisted the chassis carrying it downstairs and that was enough to leak some water onto the board :(

RMA it, you've nothing to lose. Asus warranty is 3 years on motherboards, contact the place where you bought it from.

Brilliant, that was quick. I bet the water leak is a blessing in disguise, sounds like the board was knackered anyway. If you haven't ordered your air coolers yet Colin you can have my Hyper 212 Evo's, they're just laying here doing nothing.

Don't worry guys. We're going to get no closer than 200k on CSG and Enigma then back off. We just want as much buffer as possible from the teams behind us on those projects. That's the plan anyway.

Well I don't how the rest of the guys feel, but I'd much prefer comming 2nd than 1st if you guys let us win. I say go for it, add some excitement to the last two months of the comptetion.
(As long as the whole of susa don't turn up :D)

Well guys, there's only a few projects with work that TSBT has a chance to gain any points on. Enigma is a project we can both pick up a few points on and it's not going to make much difference between the our teams in 1st and 2nd place. So how about an Enigma throw down? If you are up for it,we can schedule a throw down. Give each team to regroup. What say yea?

Well as I said on your forums, I'm up for it, though it doesn't look like it will be much of a contest on current form. However if we do, let's not do it in Nov because I believe it would be no fun being in division 1 next season for either of us if we ended up there.

Rule 8 of FB states there are 3 divisions that are determined by RAC. Unless your average RAC for the month of Nov is over 10M then you will remain a Div 2 team.

The reason the the team who won Div 2 last got moved up is because their RAC was over 10M/day.

Yes I was aware of that, perhaps I'm just being pararnoid :) Doesn't take much work on a high scoring GPU project to push over that limit.

Not looking like there's much enthusiasm here for an Enigma challenge :(
