Nope and I didnt say that was the reason, just that MS have far more involvement and leverage in F1 right now than Sony. Taking the rights for the game when they are supplying the most important bit of electronics in f1 for years would make taking the rights for an F1 game so much easier.
Its not just a poxy license either, Its a huge huge coup to steal it. If they even do want it, it's now there for the taking.
Might be the case, but like i said exposure is huge from the playstation brand, not for the 360. Especially in key motor racing markets in the far east. Hence a big factor in the GP of China. This upcoming season exposure is everything to F1, especially now since Schumacher has retired.
It is now shaping up like it could quite feasibly be a European launch title, so providing it is and sells well, Sony will do their damndest to tie F1 to another 5 year deal.
Dont underestimate the Playstation brand just yet
over 100 million PS2's
Over 20 million PSP's sold [edited from PS3's sorry]
God knows how many PS3's sold by the end of the license
Plus Sony Liverpool been developing and tweaking for years
In Addition there is 3 Japanese Teams and Japanese Tyre Manufacturer
Vs
24 million xboxs (which isnt really developed for anymore)
5 million xbox 360s (as of june)
Nobody dev'd an F1 game in ages
I think that is what will sway the descision. F1 would be off their head to give it up to MS unless the PS3 tanks in the next 6 months.
The only thing MS could bring is arguably slightly more exposure in America, but america isnt interested in F1, never have never will. Its Bearnie's dream to have F1 big over there, but it will never happen.
