Formula one on a 360 ?

any news of a F1 game coming to a 360 as ive had a look about and cant see any

Sadly not. I hope MS wave the cash when the rights are up for sale. MS could always sponsor a team that would help. After all they are going to be supplying the standard ECU thats coming. They may well have done that for a trade.

The thread or the HD video?

The HD video is on ign, but you have to be a member. I was blown away by the small size videos. Once I DL the HD version in game stuff it wasn't so hot sadly.

Sponsoring a team wont make a slight bit of difference, its up to the FIA who gets the games not a team. Even if they bought a team, still wouldnt have enough clout to get the game on an xbox.

It is/was a good idea for it to be Sony, potential target with PS2's over over 100 million people, PS3 will be a huge market. Also helps make the F1 name huge in the far east which is a market F1 needs. Sony have always done a good job with the F1 games too, so i honestly can't see them losing it. As they still have the PS2 base to argue with, the PSP and the PS3, and since it looks killer on the PS3 i doubt it will move.

Are you sure about that i watched the hd content and i was not really impressed.
It looked exactly like i thought it would ok but not brilliant and nothing the 360 could not handle.

Then you have no idea how F1 works. Bernie would love to get a whiff of MS onboard. Mutual back scratching is what F1 does best. As I say MS aren't doing the Ecu for nothing. Upto the Fia? It's upto Bernie and Bernie goes where the most money is. The name F1 doesn't belong to the FIA. FIA isn't F1. Its not like the FIA have much of a say in the tracks either, Bernie takes them where the monies the highest and whoever scratches the most back. Like toyota and Japan losing Suzuka.

Might not be anything the 360 couldn't handle, but maybe the 360 needs to get some devs to remove the digit out their big fat ***** and actually make stuff that looks that good

U honestly think its for a poxy game license and not the fact that Vista comes out 3 months before the start of the F1 season?

Nope and I didnt say that was the reason, just that MS have far more involvement and leverage in F1 right now than Sony. Taking the rights for the game when they are supplying the most important bit of electronics in f1 for years would make taking the rights for an F1 game so much easier.

Its not just a poxy license either, Its a huge huge coup to steal it. If they even do want it, it's now there for the taking.

Might be the case, but like i said exposure is huge from the playstation brand, not for the 360. Especially in key motor racing markets in the far east. Hence a big factor in the GP of China. This upcoming season exposure is everything to F1, especially now since Schumacher has retired.
It is now shaping up like it could quite feasibly be a European launch title, so providing it is and sells well, Sony will do their damndest to tie F1 to another 5 year deal.
Dont underestimate the Playstation brand just yet ;)

over 100 million PS2's
Over 20 million PSP's sold [edited from PS3's sorry]
God knows how many PS3's sold by the end of the license
Plus Sony Liverpool been developing and tweaking for years
In Addition there is 3 Japanese Teams and Japanese Tyre Manufacturer

Vs

24 million xboxs (which isnt really developed for anymore)
5 million xbox 360s (as of june)
Nobody dev'd an F1 game in ages

I think that is what will sway the descision. F1 would be off their head to give it up to MS unless the PS3 tanks in the next 6 months.
The only thing MS could bring is arguably slightly more exposure in America, but america isnt interested in F1, never have never will. Its Bearnie's dream to have F1 big over there, but it will never happen.

I see what your saying but apart from the rights of the game and how much they pay for that Sony bring nothing else to the F1 circus. I dont think the ECU has anything to do with Vista promotion because the ECU partnership doesn't start til 08.

They did look at sponsorship of toyota in 2004/5 as the sole sponsor. So they where likely looking at not only investing heavy but also paving the way to some japanese butt kissing. Image a toyota with Xbox 360 livery, that wouldve gone down well :D

I think towards the middle of next year going into 08 microsoft will really start looking at a team seriously.

Cripes i didn't realize they'd sold only 5 million 360s, presumably thats only in japan, but 20 million ps3's, are you sure.

I think Bernie goes for the money, if he wanted publicity, he would just license f1 for every platform.

Obviously I'm guessing.

ps isn't this Firefox 2 spell checker fantastic
