Formula one on a 360 ?

I see what your saying but apart from the rights of the game and how much they pay for that Sony bring nothing else to the F1 circus. I dont think the ECU has anything to do with Vista promotion because the ECU partnership doesn't start til 08.

They did look at sponsorship of toyota in 2004/5 as the sole sponsor. So they where likely looking at not only investing heavy but also paving the way to some japanese butt kissing. Image a toyota with Xbox 360 livery, that wouldve gone down well :D

I think towards the middle of next year going into 08 microsoft will really start looking at a team seriously.

But all that exposure is worth an absolute fortune, and that is what F1 actually needs. And tbh MS and the Xbox bring nothing at all really.
It probably doesn't although maybe by the start of the 08 season it will be stable and secure HA lol

That would have been very strange indeed lol it was probably too early for them, they knew xbox360 was just too far away to put on a car and the xbox was a lost cause in japan.

I honestly can't see them getting involved TBH, they haven't shown a much interest in sports in the biggest sporting land in the world. They may well do it for it being a world stage, But they would need an American company to build the cars, if not they could get Flak back home for it. I bet they are talking to Intel an awful lot about how their sponsorship is going
And it would be humbling embrassing for them if they just couldnt get anywhere, much like it is for Toyota with their biggest operating budget in F1 lol
I still think the biggest no brainer for a sponsorship is Coke with Ferrari lol Thought that would be a sitter lol

Cripes i didn't realize they'd sold only 5 million 360s, presumably thats only in japan, but 20 million ps3's, are you sure.

The 5 million was a june figure i got, couldnt find the exact figure for just now.
They would loved to have sold 5 million in Japan lol

And i ment PSP's i have corrected it now heehee sorry

See if you listen to bernie and his cronies they have a billion viewers. So they don't need exposure. What they actually need is stable teams, teams with a secure financial future and teams who will still be on the grid next year and the year after.

Sponsorship and investment brings that, the F1 game doesn't. Big companies like Microsoft stayed away while the ciggy money was there. Coke, mcdonalds etc all said they didnt want any involvement with the ciggy companies. Coke have since said they won't be entering F1 and poured money into football instead.

Your right MS and Xbox bring nothing to grab more viewers but in team stabilty they would be priceless.

I still remember the 93 williams with Sega and sonic on the car, didnt do them any harm did it ;)

I have never been impressed by the ps2 the original ps had the better games and more original games.
Another f1 update just will not get me to buy a over priced console.
Looking at the hd gameplay nothing worth getting excited over just looks what you would a expect a game to look like today.

Yeah but bernie talks a lot lol. With Schumi gone a lot of viewers will be gone too. Continuous exposure keeps people watching, if not they forget about it and just not really care. Stable teams are good for the likes of us, but wont pull in viewers though. And even then, this year they have more applications than they have places. The teams being affected are the ones wayyy down the grid, who tbh nobody cares about, and the independants.

The big money is in IT companies, hence intel's forray into the whole thing, Didn't McLaren try and court them and fail, so they ended up with Johnny Walker, and AMD being a sponsor of Ferrari for long enough. But would MS bring much stability? can they afford another sinking ship? just how much money will they pour into the xbox brand, that is the question.

Yeap i remember the wee Sonic feet myself, but i wouldn't go spouting that as an example, where are they now :p (i know it took a few years to do away with the dreamcast, but there is only so much money a company will haemorrhage on a single thing)

But saying that with MS' operating budget i would be surprised if they brought a sponsorship with the 360 all over it, it would need to be MS branded, especially if it is going to be signigicant. Unless they decided to have an MS digital entertainment brand.

I was joking about sega :D

Shummi going will have little or no impact. JPM and JV will be a bigger loss TV wise. Those nations will switch off. Germany wont, they have other drivers.

Also Shumi winning so much is what lost F1 its audience. It will likely bring more viewers in because they "why watch that, Schummi wins all the time anyway" menatlity will be gone. Close battles is what brings the views in and the unknown of who will win. The last 6 years have been the worst in decades. They can no clean the sports image up and try to win back the lost viewers.

Rumour has it Microsoft paid 10 million dollars for the privilage of building the ECU for the good old Fia. Wonder how much sony pay for the F1 game?

Reckon will will start seeing a lot more of Bill on the grid next year ;)

Are you sure about that i watched the hd content and i was not really impressed.
It looked exactly like i thought it would ok but not brilliant and nothing the 360 could not handle at 25fps.

fixed. ;)

i'll still be watching f1 despite schumi going, and id love an f1 game for the 360 but i fear a ps3 exclusive plus the next installment for gran turismo willl cause me to buy a ps3 later on

Well i dunno he was the only one that made it interesting this year though.

Well Bill will need something to fill up his time since he is standing down from his cheif role in MS.
