So, do you believe anything like this at all? Poeple capable of telling you your future.

Personally, both me and my dad think its a load of tripe, but my mam loves it and really does believe it. Mine and my dads argument being tell us the winning lottery numbers and we might start to believe.

So, do you believe what comes from fortune tellers and the like?

They use the power of suggestion and relative thought.

I'd be very very surprised if it turned out that mediums actually did posess spiritual abilities.

no, total load of cow testicals.

I would think a fairly easy way would be to go back to the same fortune teller in a few years time and see if she says the same thing (or a few weeks for that matter)

You should walk in, look at the fortune teller, then slap her across the face and say "I guess you didn't see that coming!"

NO..

There just good at reading body language and working with laws of averages.

Agreed. I know people who are scarily good at reading people from the way they act, to the extent that if they wrapped it up with some crystal balls they could come across as phsycic.

Believe it or not, attacking fortune tellers still counts as assault...

Unlike others here I am unwilling to dismiss it without proper analysis...

I dont think anyone is going to tell 'your future' but its possible to tell someone potential paths and help them examine their current situation.

Of course, there are likely a lot of frauds out there as well...

I've always wondered why mediums and the like have to advertise. Surely if they were any good they wouldn't have to.

Example: Blackheath, there is regularly a "Mystic Fair" advertised on a giant banner. If they were truly mystic we would know there was a fair there that weekend, we don't need no stinking banner!

Nope. Not at all. There is no obvious reason why I would believe that. They ask very subtle and very clever questions and find out more stuff about you than you realise or freely let on. There is no such thing as the future IMO therefore you cannot predict it.

Absolute *****. And it's appropriate to swear here.

The "mediums" are obviously quite smart, but I'm smarter. I'd quite like to have a session with one just to tear them apart.

Personally, I don't believe in it. However, I have very good friends who are intelligent and not insane that swear they've had an epiphany thanks to fortune tellers. This plants enough doubt for me to keep an open mind.

It's like Derren Brown, he can't really read peoples minds, but he's damn good at convincing you he can.

I'd say most of it is bunk, but I wouldn't rule it all out, as it wouldn't be outside the realm of spirituality as outlined in the Bible.

*not looking for a Bible argument, just giving backing for my statement*

I've had my palm read, and I've spent a lot of time in the middle east where people are more open minded towards mystical sides of life and even then I wasn't convinced.

i believe it has to be a load of old $£"$ :P - lets face it you can tell the future etc ... what you gona do -

1 . go out and take over the world / become multi millionaire etc...

2 . sit in seady tent in scarborough/blackpool and get paid £5 an hour

?

:P

So no-one has got any personal experience it seems, most are willing to dismiss it upon the suggestion that it just must be fake, really?

I have but theres no point in telling anyone about is as i would invariably be laughed at.
Plus the one i went to see is more of a 'Peer' type of a person rather than a palm reader...
