Forum format?

Can someone explain how I can use Reddit? I would like to view comments in chronological order with the oldest first just like this forum, however when I do it still seems to mix a lot up and isn't all oldest to newest.

I have tried 'sorted by old' I still get comments that are 7 mins old mixed with 3 hours old?

I do like the format of a bb board. But OC has always been a bit slow in moving on to new versions.

I quite like the simple, clean layout of this forum. I wouldn't mind if they kept this format for a long time yet personally.
