Forums not refreshing

I frequent two forums, this one and one for work, recently I,ve noticed that on both of them whenever I read unread posts/threads they stay as unread and don't turn back to read posts.

So the question is what could this be? it has me flummoxed.

i think private browsing would cause this, as it wouldnt save the pages you visit eg. you havent read that page yet.

I'd try removing cookies and the browser cache, and also check your time and date settings as this can cause it to happen ie. if the time and date is set to in front of the forum time then you can't have read them in the future...
