Forza 4

The only good wheels are the Fanatec ones (Turbo S, GT2, CSR/E), but they're all quite expensive (more so because you have to buy pedals separately). Unless you're pretty serious about racing games and have the dosh, it's probably not worth it. The new Microsoft Speed Wheel could be an option if you want more precision than a controller if you aren't overly hardcore when it comes to racing games. You can get one for around £40.

If you play racing games on the PC, a Fanatec wheel could be justified as they're compatible with all three platforms. I went for a GT2 a couple of months ago for that very same reason.

I had one of the official MS wheels a while back. The precision is great and the force feedback really helps. However, in a small house with loads of kids toys already cluttering up the place, it is a hassle when it takes up so much space and it needs setting up each time you want to use it. I'm probably going to pick up the speed wheel at some point, as I want the enhanced precision, but I want something I can literally put in a drawer when I'm done for the night.

hi, i downloaded the demo to my xbox and thought it was really good (although i find the in-game music annoying). Im a bit of a noob when it comes to consoles and want to know if my old logitech usb steering wheel i bought for my pc years ago will work with this and the xbox? Or, is it ok to use the normal xbox controller for good times?

Liking this game but a quick question/ I know there is no AI difficulty and its supose to be adaptive but im on season 4 now and have finished 1st every race i have done by at least 4 seconds!

Surely thats not right? no one is challenging me. Forza 3 AI gave ma a good battle

In season play it's supposed to adapt to your skills. If you pick an event from the event list, then you can set the difficulty.

i've used the normal xbox controller for all my times, including my two world records (will claim my 3rd world record back soon). all of these are with cars that have ridiculous power and very little grip, something a steering wheel and pedals would be incredibly helpful for. so yeah, you can set good times on the controller

you can also turn the music off in game and in menus. not sure if you can replace it with your own stuff though

Yea this is using season play. It doesnt seem to be adapting in the slightest for me.

same here. AI at its hardest just isnt fast enough for me. never was on any forza game. on forza 3 i ended up going in stock cars ~75 points below the AI to get a decent race with them

I picked this up yesterday as I really enjoyed Forza 3.

Played for around an hour and a half, I now own a 450BHP 4WD, Aygo. Oh yes! It is hilarious. I remember now why I love Forza so much.

As said above, in the menu you can turn off the music while racing, don't know about menu music though. No logitech wheel will work out the box with the xbox, you would need to get an adapter like the XCM F1 though it doesn't give full force feed back as it effectively tricks the xbox into thinking you are using a controller. The only wheels that work are the official xbox ones or some of the fanatec ones, though the fanatec are expensive but apparently very good wheels.

What tracks/class are they?

I'll have a go with the wheel at them today and see how close I can get.

I would be surprised if the top times are held by pad owners.
They certainly wernt on the GT Torunament Sony ran last year which indicated the controller used.

"Timdog" go seek him, seek em boy...
On that note ibert what do you run your FFB setting at? Also do you use 900 degrees?

I just don't consider the leaderboards to be a true reflection of anything until a good few months have passed as its impossible for the quick drivers to have run the majority of class/track combinations in good tunes. D-C-B are currently ruined by people using the glitched muscle cars.

My aim once the leaderboards mature is to try and stay in the top 25 around the nordschliefe c-x (F/E/D are so slow its not worth the punishment).

Just got them on default at the mo. I heard there was a problem using over 270 so never tried it.

Well I'm into my 4th season now, level 13 and loving it! I thought I'd really miss the lack of Porsche but it honestly hasn't made any difference. I think the difficulty has improved since Forza 3 and the AI are more prone to making mistakes. Sometimes this works in my favour, sometimes not!
I'll start racing online once I've got better and a few more cars!

well iv had to restart and after about 6-8 hours im level 12 and still on 2nd season, need to get some of my old cars on the go again tho but i just seem to stick to stock cars haha, i am also only using nissan and mazda for some reason i dont know why, maybe because there the best cars to get affinity with?
