Found a cheap Carbon Fibre backup tripod, can you spot anything wrong with it?

At those focal lengths with the steel RS tripods you will be fine, 85mm (especially on FF) is relatively short compared to 200-300 on crop. At 300-400mm effective focal length ypu have to be extremely careful with technique.

Aye I agree on that front!

I won't be selling the 2nd free tripod :p The FlyCam Nano arrived today and it could do with a base ball head and oh look, I suddenly have one spare!

Edit*

Done!

The modded (sawn off) short column^^ came in very handy today, I needed more height to get the curvature of a road while the sun set but I didn't want the tripod standing (not even the RS) due to the heavy winds up on this hill so...

:D

The rubberised grips on the leg locking bits are nice, didn't have to worry about scratching my car like I would with the RS had I used that for this session.

Speaking of the RS, got the issues solved and they repaired and sent back to me next day.

Robbie, I'm thinking of buying one of these for my Iceland trip next year. And chance you could courier the 'spare' to me for a couple of weeks testing between me and the 2 going and then I'll send it back with a bag of Haribo? :D

My workmate has taken it off my hands already! The ball head was too talk for the fkycam sadly.

Oooh err!

Yeah if we do this meet I'll bring both Red Snapper so you can see the difference in weight and feel. I have not been let down by the CF one today though on its first Urbex session. The lightness has meant I can run away quicker, from a bull (!).

Is this tripod holding up still, any problems so far?

Looking for my first tripod soon and am looking at the good budget end really(I don't have £300+ for a tripod+head):)

Mine have been fine but it's not a good big lens pod or strong wind pod .saying that I doubt you will find better for the cash
It works very well with my 5d and 24mm to 105mm l 4.also fine with a 100 mm macros. But a 70 to 200 2.8 was a bit much for it .
Build quality is surprisingly good

Mine is going well too, I've just bought a Calumet ball head which sits on it and the red snapper tripods and it's just fine. Obviously not ideal for the windiest of days but when out exploring and you need a light CF tripod, this does the job.

I got one of these tripods aswell based on this thread, and altho it hasn't had a tonne of use, its awesome.

You should hit them for comission mrk !

^ I am especially liking that carry case, the one I posted doesn't have handles like that, only shoulder strap.

Yeh it's a decent bag, really well made and good quality. I don't use it however as I tend to strap the tripod directly to my backpack.

Mine is going strong.

Its used twice a week, as I'm a photography teacher and I use it in class. Really robust I have found, it needs to be to stand up to the use of the pupils.
