found a dog

found a dog today roaming the streets of middlesbrough we took it home and now it wont leave we left it outside and watched for around 30 mins and it just sat at our door , what can we do with it , not sure who to ring .

Call the RSPCA if you don't want it. It could well belong to somebody who just lets it roam the streets.

rspca say ring local wardens the wardens dont answer as they close at 6 we live in uni accom so cant keep a dog

dogs always wonder the streets of boro lol , did you "take" it home or did it follow you ?

id of left it where you found it , or take it back to where you found it so it has a chance of finding home...

it literally was just outside where we live and wont leave we tried taking it a little further up the road about 100 metres where it went and it just stayed there then came back to our door about 20 mins later

Take it to the local police station if you want to get rid of it tonight, they will get the RSPCA or local shelter to come and collect it. before everyone shouts at me for wasting police time most do have kennels for this kind of thing.

my cat came through the cat flap about 4 years ago and never left.....so... good luck with that!

Phone the local police station, they or the main police station in your area will have kennels, I think they keep it for a while before letting you have it or give it to a home iirc.

This happened to a dog we found but luckily the owner traced him to the police station.

They'll also be able to scan the dog and see if it's tagged

That's sad... if I found a dog and it didn't leave, I'd adopt it!

Not guilt tripping / saying you should, though. Obviously uni accommodation et al you're not in a position to keep a dog.

put up "found dog" posters all around the area you found dog and ask the local shops and vets to put one up
