Found an Iphone, what to do with it?

You're assuming that he and his dad have a good relationship and that they can actually contact the son who has no phone

they might even of just sent the email to the wrong adresss

Well I was guessing that as his dad checked with the son that the phone was missing, and then gave the description/offerer the p&p money that they were at least on speaking terms. Also, what's stopping the son contacting the phone then if the dad doesn't want to? Surely if he wants it back, he'd be able to just phone it and sort it out himself.

I guess it's possible the email went to the wrong address, but then if the heard nothing back, and want the phone, they'd just ring and ask what's going on.

I'd say you've done more than enough as far as making an effort to return the phone back to the owner. If they haven't got back to you in a couple of weeks either keep it or hand it in to the police station.

If you kept it or tried to sell it chances are it would be locked eventually and become useless. If you had sold it then Paypal will come after you, etc so it's not worth going through all that.

I would personally hand it into the police as soon as possible and let them take care of it. If the people don't claim it within a certain time frame then you won't have any legal issue with keeping it so all will be good. You then have a free iphone!

Don't they give you it back if it isn't claimed after a period of time anyway? Or is that only money/something else.

Possibly, but what has the OP to lose? He's done his best to help, rather than keep it and cause him aggro give it to someone else for someone else's responsibility. :)

My friend once found an ipod in the sandwich racks at Greggs. He kept it.

You've done all you can, time to keep it.

All they have to do is report the phone stolen to their network and you have a brick (as it will be blacklisted), so contemplating keeping it is a bit premature.
