found new hardware wizard starts

When i boot my pc which has 2 sata HDD's the found new hardware wizard pops up and informs me that there is a problem installing the hard ware ie both HDD's but both are working and accessible? it say the filename directory name or volume label syntax is incorrect. but like i say it works ok anyone have any ideas as its a pain whenever booting. :mad:

They do but it's a pair of generic drivers which are supplied with windows - disk.sys & partmgr.sys if you're interested.

What happens if you go into Device Manager, right click on the HDD and pick "Update Driver"?
 
Hmm, there are a few references to that error message on google but none of the solutions are particularly pleasant or conclusive.

There's something fairly fundamental wrong within the guts of Windows by the sounds of things. At this point I'd be starting to weigh up how long this is going to take to fix against how long a reinstall is going to take.
