Trying to convert the rent and make a comparison based on the price in GBP might give wrong impression... Switzerland is a safe haven and CHF has become rather expensive in the past few years as a result(this is distorting those prices a bit). If you're earning CHF then its not as much of an issue - the OP doesn't necessarily have to be on an outrageous salary in Swiss terms to rent somewhere like that - whereas doing the same job in London he'd likely not be spending £365 or whatever a week.

If you want to visit Switzerland - now isn't necessarily a good time to do so and if you're a Swiss company reliant on exports... you're also probably taking a hit at the moment.
