Ok Im sure we all 100% agree online compettive gaming keys+mouse is essential.

But for enjoyment what do you prefer.

For example, I just played Deus Ex Hr with my 360 controller lying on my bed using big tv.

I coudlve sat at desk and used keys+mouse and would be easier but less comfortbale.

Lying on your bed with a big tv = sloppy reaction times, no different to slouching on a sofa or laid back in your computer chair. Sloppy reaction times = less time spent playing more time spent dying = less to enjoy. When you're really trying you'll probably be sat leaning forwards off the edge of the bed/sofa any way.

Besides, being comfortable is debatable. To me, trying to lie on my bed and play a console game would mean I'd spend half my time fidgeting trying to get comfortable and failing. I like my computer chair. Even if there is now a line of dead skin on the side of my foot because of the way I sit.

Yep I agree. When playing computer games I need to be alert, sitting at the desk is the only way to play computer games for me and obviously with mouse and keyboard. The odd occasions I have to endure console games I sit on the edge of the sofa, back up straight like a Meercat, it's not comfy at all. The moment I slob out my standard takes a nose dive and to be honest when I'm sat like that I rather be veging out to a movie.

Isn't this like the third or forth thread on this in the last fortnight...

The slow reaction times and more dying is utter gonads evil. If your competent with both control methods there is zero basis to say you'd die more or less with each. My thumbs don't become paralytic because I'm slouching all of a sudden.

In terms of enjoyment, I'll use whichever suits the game more or which is available. I'd never not play a game ilI want to because I had to use a bad

Did I say that? Its got nothing to do with a control pad. You adopt different positions depending on how focused you are at something. Its always seemed to me that the universal state of a gamer concentrating on a game is sat up or leaning towards something not slouched back, whether its a control pad or a keyboard/mouse.

Either way the control method you're using hasn't got the slightest effect on your enjoyment (not including cross platform which is another matter entirely). I can be more comfortable sat at my computer chair than I can laying on my bed trying to focus on the tv.

Given the thread is about controller vs M+K I'd assumed that's what you meant.. I could slouch in my chair or lie down in bed and can honestly say that it wouldn't affect my concentration or reactions unless I were actually trying to **** out. Personal preference perhaps, but I'd definitely wouldn't say you've got to sit rigid to have good reactions and die less.

This I completely agree with. I'm more than happy enough to sit at my desk with a pad, or lie in bed playing on a laptop.

Yes the thread was about M/K and controller and I was saying that it makes no difference in the slightest. Being comfortable and enjoying the game has no relevance to either your controller type or what posture you choose.
I was just saying that to my knowledge, if you're focusing on a game that needs quick thinking like an FPS your posture is pretty much the same regardless, that is, sat up or leaning forwards.

yes but the key point I was making was non competitve gaming.

For example, I was playing just cause 2..Now this game is hella fun and not hard at all....

So I can lie in my bed and enjoy the scenery and gameplay.

Or I could sit at my desk or on my big chair in fornt off my tv or monitor and play better but less relaxed.

As for Dues ex I played sneakign about so intense non stop shootign wasnt a key point.

Now If I play call of duty then sure mayeb even single player I prefer at desk with mouse but it isnt as essential as when online.

My point is when a game is non competitive or not so difficult or single player then isnt it more relaxing to be in bed or using control pad.

now if I am playing online there is no way in hell I will lie in bed or use gamepad.

Also I play video games up to 10hrs per day sometimes...to sit at desk like that is not fun.

If I play game sonly 1-2 hours per day I could easily sit at desk.

Well i'd go for controller, and crashing out on the sofa anyday for non-competative gaming. But in reality, this doesn't affect my standard at all. I can play just as well laying down on my side as I can sitting up alert in a chair.
Mainly because i'm so used to gaming that my brain is no longer controlling my actions and so doesn't become more or less alert depending on how i position myself. As long as my eyes are on the screen and the pad is in my hands i play exactly the same.

Different story if the missus wants to distract me though....

I definitely need to sit up right when using a controller. Slouching all relaxed I just don't play as well. Not horrendously bad but still less than desirable.

So in the end, I always prefer to play a game using a keyboard.

Unless it is supermeat boy and other platformers... :p

I sit at a computer all day for work so I prefer 360 controller / relaxing when I game. Plus I agree with this:

not just me then I find it very hard to get confy when playing my xbox in the front room compared to keyboard or mouse on my PC or even my xbox controller on the PC.

I'm rarely relaxed when playing games anyway so a bit of a moot point.
In general I find sitting at my desk much more comfortable than trying to find somewhere else to sit, for example when I play on my ps3/xbox I usually end up sat on the floor or a poof because the sofa is too far from the tv to see what is going on.
