hi, i play my fps games on ps3 atm and i dont really like that there is no interraction with other players on it, like barely anybody has mic's on ps3 so i see myself getting bored of bf3 or cod on ps3, do people talk a lot on the pc fps games? i play wow and the only reason i still play is because i enjoy talking to other people.

2nd, is there much difference between fps games on pc and console fps games?
is the gameplay better one one of them?

3rd, if i were to get bf3 would my current setup work, my pc spec is in my signature any advice is much appreciated as i would be interested in buying it on pc.

1.Depends on the game really, and depends whether you are playing it with friends or not. Obviously, people are less likely to be talking if they don't know each other, but I imagine more people talk on PC than PS3 (I wouldn't know, I don't have a PS3).

2.Yes there is a difference. The mouse is a lot more sensitive than a gamepad, which may take a while to get used to if you aren't familiar with it. Generally PC gamers are often considered more skilful than console players because of this (at least according to some PC gamers), so you may find you die a lot at the beginning if you don't use the mouse for gaming that often.

3. Yes it would I imagine, but you probably wouldn't be able to run the game at full settings.

PC v Console

Now there is an old debate.

It's all down to preference.

I know plenty of console gamers that swear blind consoles are better for all types of games.

I know equally as many PC gamers that would say the same thing.

Personally though I think the PC is better for FPS games as the keyboard and mouse lets you be more accurate and faster. You don't have that lag time it takes for the cross-hair to sweep across the screen at whatever speed the developer deemed the best, you just point and click.

I played pc fps not stop fir best part of 10 years but started to get RSI in my fingers so started gaming with ps3 last year. Have just got red orchestra2 and I am hoping the RSI don't return as I would much rather play this type of fps over the console variety but I do undertake why People like console fps it's just easy to play and they normally have sone kind of auto aim and I never took it too serious and just messed around I know some people think it's serious business but it's just a game in it.

It's probably easier to join clans/get game related friends on the PC especially with Steam as they all have their own group page.

Having played mostly FPS games on the PC, I always found it incredibly difficult to aim with a controller, can imagine it being the same when the swap is the other way around.

It can be yes, I found my self over-pulling the mouse while aiming (having gone from console to pc) as movements are so much quicker and fluid on the pc, console aiming feels more robotic.

Saying that, I do still play allot of PC games with a 360 controller, mostly 3rd person games where I find it easier to control the floating camera with an analog stick.

FPS it has to be PC surely?

Controllers and consoles try, but it's not really how they are meant to be played (imo).

This tbh...plus you can upgrade yr system to get it looking how you like it.

Plus the fact I am useless with my lads damned PS3 controller...like trying to rub yr belly while patting yr head .... while on one leg !

Console controls are just too slow for me. Most my mates however consider playing PC games as geeky (but spend hours playing COD on the 360....explain that)

The player interaction isn't that different between PS3 and PC, unless you play with the same people regularly - as said, join a clan, or just play on a clan's server.

In terms of gameplay, FPSs on PC tend to be a little faster paced, as the additional accuracy of a mouse over a pad decreases your survivability. It also raises the skill ceiling a fair bit, so be prepared to die a lot when you start.

I'm more of a console gamer than a PC gamer. And since getting my first gaming PC for a loooong time last week i've been reminded why. Nothing but unexplainable crashes in SCII.

But any, that's besides the point. I've played many FPS games on consoles and the response is perfectly fine. I just don't see this huge difference everyone goes on about. It is there for sure, I don't find it anywhere near as significant as others seem to for some reason.
In my experience, it is probably more difficult to go from mouse to controller than the other way around. You should be able to get used to the PC controls in 15 minutes.
I've been using a playstation pad since 1995 or 1996 whenever the PS1 came out so I guess that's why I don't find as big a difference, the controller in my hand becomes more of an extension of my brain than something i'm holding - in that i'm so used to it that the response is instant. Completely unlike the Xbox 360 pad, where my response is slower to the point where I thought it was the console being slower than the PS3.

I also always turn aim assist off.

I find the difference far more significant in RTS games. These are simply unplayable on console for me.

Now that's out the way, i'm now going to praise the PC side of things over the consoles. And that's when it comes to party/clan games, community, voice chat etc.
The PS3 in particular is terrible for this and the reason I purchased an Xbox 360 in preperation for playing BF3 with friends. I've had so many issues on PS3 trying to party up with friends, the invites simply never work. And when you get in a game the headset noise is often so scrambled you can't hear anything.
The PS3 is my most used system, and will stay so but NOT for multiplayer games.

If you want more chat, have games with friends, or join a community to play regular games with people. Especially in BF3 where creating a squad with regular people could add so much more to the game.

I'm going down the Xbox route. 2-3 of friends don't have gaming PCs so we are all going down that route to play together. Unforunately for me, the Xbox is my worst gaming device for controls!! Damn.

Console fps' have been getting quite popular for competitive play at large events such as MLG (Major League Gaming). I think it is to cater to the wider audience and I suspect a lot more revenue supporting all 3 platforms.

This season, MLG has been using StarCraft II (RTS) on PC, Black Ops on the PS3 and Halo (whatever the latest is) on 360. I think they have a few other games, but those are the three which are broadcast the most.

Personally, I would consider myself to be a pretty decent PC fps player. I tried the recent Call of Duty games on the PS3 and 360 and well and truly got destroyed. Probably could persist and improve, but I couldn't get into it.

Someone needs to make a cross platform fps game(experiment) to settle this once and for all.

10 top PC players vs 10 top console players.

Then we will all know which is the most competitive control and after people can just use what they prefer.

I've just never understood why people are so defensive about the platform that they prefer. It's like they feel the need to convince themselves it was the correct choice or something.

I was part of a console forum for a long time and the amount of 360 vs PS3 threads was unreal.
Everyone should just get what they fancy and be done with it.

I'm daft so I have all 3, plus a spare PS3 as it's my partners paltform of choice for the 1 or 2 games a year she plays (mostly online co-op with me).
I say ALL 3 as i do not include the Wii as it has nothing i'd play.

This debate again! :D

My suggestion, play a well known FPS online on both the console and PC, lets say COD MW1 or MW2, Black Ops or BF2 etc or anything else that you fancy. If you are used to console then just stick with playing with a mouse and keyboard for a bit and you're soon see how much better it is. You'll probably get shot quite a lot at first (no offence) but soon you'll notice how much more accuracy/speed can be had with a keyboard and mouse over a poxy controller. (Im not bias, honest) ;)

I tend to play driving games on console, but thats just me. Keep FPS's for PC.
