I have google for a good frames per sec counter and know only of fraps, can anyones else suggest anymore? Want one that i can see during gameplay

You can also try MSI Afterburner (that has Rivatuner built in). This not only monitors your GPU (and you can put a counter for FPS, temperatures, fan speeds et al on screen in games), but is also an overclocking utility.

Ati Tray Tool also does this via On screen display but you can also include CPU utilisation with it, if this metric is important to you.

will try MSI Afterburner, sounds like you can customize it abit

Yes you can. Just pick it up straight from MSI's website.
