Fairly new to the OCuK forums, been a lurker for a while. Bought myself a new sandybridge setup with the intention of watercooling it. Been running it for a week or so on stock cooling to make sure the components are all working. they are, but the gfx card sounds like a hairdryer when gaming.

This will be my second watercooled rig, the first one I did three years ago now and is still in use today. Thats the rig in my sig.

Components to cool - i5 2500K, VTX 6950 on a Gigabyte UD4 z68. Not bothered by board/chipset watercooling this time round. EK dont do a waterblock for my card afaik. May have to use a generic block and make sure I have airflow for the VRMs.

Been doing some measuring up and I reckon that although 2x 140mm fans will fit in the roof, a 280mm rad wont - theres a couple of mm extra on the sides and it will clash with the RAM - so I'm planning a fairly thick 240mm (120.2) up top.

Am considering chopping out the drivebays and putting a 2nd rad in there. So excusing my ghetto paint skills...

Will probably use an SSD stashed somewhere for storage. Also going to braid all the cables - the Antec braiding looks kinda hokey under cameraflash.

Questions -
will two 120.2 radiators cool a 2500K at around 4.5Ghz with a 6950?
Will it be enough to cool a 2nd 6950 if I add one?
Are there any FD Arc Midi's build logs around to look at for ideas?

Cheers.

Yes

Yes although you will of course get higher temps

Google says no :(

You're welcome :p:D

I'm gonna press on with the two radiators then I think. Cool.

Dear ,
Sorry but we don’t have PCB pictures; the HD6950 2G is designed by our RD, so it can not fit aftermarket watercooler.
We do not recommend you to do modification, it will void the warranty if you do any modification.

Best Regards,

Description:

Do you have any images of the PCB for this graphics card? I would like to watercool it but do not want to take mine apart just to take a photo. Thanks.

Guess I'll be breaking out the jewellers screwdrivers and the camera then... In the meantime I'm off to find a cheap Laing D5, a pumptop res etc.

take a look on the EK cooling configurator to see if their blocks support your card :)

I did. They didn't.

For now I'm going to go with the XSPC Rasa GPU block, maybe switching to a full cover block if EK can find one after I send them a few board images.

Right now I'm tracking down what fans I want. I'm thinking Scythe Gentle Typhoons which look to give good performance on low rpm.
