Fractal Design, new case/s 03/06/2020

I bought the compact from OcUK on Friday and built it yesterday. Really quite pleased with it, I was upgrading from an old define r5. The only annoying thing is the cable management from the PSU as mentioned by Hardware Canucks. If you don’t get it right the side panel will pop off. I just removed the 3.5 drive cage from the bottom and that made cable routing much easier.

What's it like in terms of noise airflow to that of the R5?

After a recent bad run with different cases defects and all I recently caved in and ordered the Define 7 Compact in Dark Tint. Reviewers complain about the lack of space behind the motherboard tray, I had zero issues with cable management and shutting the side panel. Fractal build quality is top notch and more than i can say for the recent cases I've sent back. These XL chassis are becoming far too big and heavy these days although given the space they offer they are fantastic to work in if you have lots of hardware.

Temps are perfectly fine and with the standard case fans that shipped it was inaudible? However I did replace the stock fans with my own and ended up with a configuration of 2 front 140mm and 1 120mm rear exhaust all Noctua, it's like an ice box. I'm also using a Noctua NH-U12S which is a slim fit cooler on a 3600 and a 2060 Super and the temps never peak above 50C on warm days, I have the ventilated top panel fitted also.

I'm used to working in small cases and cable management was a breeze and I don't require the HDD caddie so the PSU basement area was perfect for arranging the cabling. I don't like huge cases and this was perfect and very light to pick up and move about if required.
