I got a fan controller with my Define R2. It came with 2 cables - one to connect to molex and another to connect to 3 fans. I've connected it up, but when I power the PC up the fans don't spin. Other fans do, but these don't. I've tried twiddling the dial but nothing seems to work.

For diagnostic purposes, would it be OK to power the 2 fans I've got on the Fractal splitter from one header on the motherboard?

Try the fans attached to a molex first to see that they are working.

Then a single confirmed working fan attached to the controller.

Make sure the controller is on max to start with, some fans will need a full current to start up properly, then you can decrease it.

Then go back and try with 2 fans.

The controller might not have the power to support 2 ,let alone 3 per header.

Also, make sure that you have only 1 sensor wire attached per header. So with 2 fans you will need to dissconnect 1 of the sensor wires from 1 of the fans.

I use mobo headers as a last resort for powering fans, probably just me though :D

I've just been wiggling some cables, I think it's an electrical connection - they spin up for a second, and then go off again. Thanks for the tips though. :)
