Hi i am looking at getting a pc built with the below ruff specs.

Fractal north case
7800x3d cpu
rtx4090 gpu
32gigs ddr5 6000mhz
2tb nvme drive
x670e mobo

now i wanted o spec a it with a 360mm cpu cooler, but i am finding mixed signals over you tube ect with regard being able to fit a rtx4090 and a 360mm cpu cooler in it ?
is it possible ? I have had someone say you can only fit certain rtx4090 cards and only a 240mm cpu cooler ? Just want some clarification on this really, any help would be great.

Thank you

Check the case manual

Looks like you can squeeze a 325mm card with a front 360mm mounted AIO which makes it pretty tight for most 4090.
E.g. Zotac around 355mm, Palit around 330mm. Perhaps the reference card at 304mm.

Edit: Search on a site where you can cap the length shows the MSI ventis as the only air cooled card with a length of 322mm... that's a whole 3mm to play with.

manual

Other options... an air cooler to 170mm high or a 240mm AIO in the top as it says it supports a 240mm rad.
I got a 280mm AIO for my 5800X3D and the rad never really gets warm even with fans at 800rpm so I expect a 240mm AIO would be plenty and then you can fit cards to 355mm

So it would only work if i could get a reference card, but looks like i have no chance of getting a new one of those ? So maybe i would have to go with a different case ?

For a 7800X3D you don't need a 360 AIO, I'd just get a decent air cooler, or are you wanting this for aesthetics?

Reference card is in stock for UK, or the MSI will just fit and is in stock at other sellers.
As Tetras says, a good air cooler would be fine as the AMD part isn't crazy from heat output.

Ok so I should have said I want this built rather than me building myself, last time I built a pc was probably 20 years ago lol second it is just purely for gaming so I assumed 7800x3d with rtx4090 would be a very good fit ? Plus I am trying to future proof the upgrade process in the future with the AM5 motherboard, so should I be going for a better cpu ?
also thank you for all the responses so far, it is much appreciate.

The 7800x3d is one of the best CPU's for gaming, by design it is also efficient so you don't need a huge AIO to tame it.
Some of the intel parts have double the power consumption for simialar performance so do benefit from the larger AIO's.

As someone who's build PC's for over 30 years... it's so much easier these days than back then, much more like lego as long as you pick compatible components.

Why not give OCUK a call, they sell the North and the components so you can discuss a build to your spec.

I guess i would save a fair amount of money also by building this myself ? I did look at nvidias site for the rtx4090 reference card it shows the buy sign but it does nothing, so maybe it’s not available or maybe its safari on my iPad Pro ? But all in all this has given me some food for thought thank you.

No worries.

Might be a Safari issue.... on chrome, the buy adds it to my basket which is at the top of the screen. Clicking this basket takes me to checkout.

@Tetras might need some lube with that Zotac card as it's literally mm fit 355/355 :D
I'd pay the slight premium for the reference or the MSI just to have wriggle room to fit in this case.

The other issue may be the power connector, as the case is limited to 170mm CPU cooler and the card is 150mm so will likely need a cablemod adapter... and even then be tight.

@walker1971 the more I think about it.... a Fractal define R6 or similar larger case would solve a lot of your issues so unless you are really set on that case, may be worth looking around.

Mmmmm i do like the divine R6 not seen this before, i was kind of set on the north as i love the wood look but the define may be the answer then i can have what ever cooling i like and the rtx4090 can be any brand

An RTX 4090 needs a lot of cooling consideration and air flow. Ideally you want a mesh front case with 3 or 4 fans.

So if I had a big enough case with the specs I have suggested, with a 360mm cooler at the top of the case where would fans need to be and how many I assume a couple at the front of the case airflow going in and a couple at the back airflow going out ? Any more than that and any suggestions as to what type of fans? Really not bothered about rgb just want the oc to stay as cool as possible but not sound like a jet fighter taking off :-)

Most decent

Cases like the meshify 2 (there are a few varients of this case so make sure you get the correct varient ) and the define r6 already come with 3 x 140mm fans , 2 at the front and 1 rear which is good enough.

This is what I usually suggest for high-end builds:

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £174.92 (includes delivery: £11.98)

It comes with 2x 140mm fans in the front, 1x 140mm in the rear, I add an extra fan in the basket for the front.

The 280mm/360mm radiator/AIO goes in the roof (65mm max thickness including fans), or it supports 190mm (height) air coolers.

Max GPU length is 435mm.

So ideally you’d want 3 fans with high static pressure for the top radiator and 3 unobstructed high flow fans at the front, along with a single rear fan moving some air across the CPU socket area.
