Frame rate CoD4 issue

Guy's any ideas on way out of nowhere CoD4 is slowing down on my pc?
I've played hours and hours of multiplayer on it with great frame rate 90-100+ no probs and now for some reason its playing around 60 with frequent drops to 30, making it very laggy and not at all playable.

Card is only GT640 but on a game like CoD4 this should be more than enough.

other notes, nothing running in background, no steam d/ls, no changes to graphical settings in game and up to date card drivers.

Are you sure you haven't capped the frame rate to 60?

try /com_maxfps 125 if you haven't already.

well that's fixed it, hadn't even thought about that as I have no idea how my frame rate became capped like that? either way thanks for the hint.

This game used to play up unless you selected either multi GPU or multi-core in the graphics options, even if you were using one card.
