frames per second same hardware vista vs 7?

i was just wondering if anyone using the exact same hardware and benchmarked a game before and after they switched from vista to windows 7 and noticed a difference in frames per second? will win7 be good in this respect or is it just booting times etc? wondering if its worth me upgrading. thanks
 
AFAIK the difference is minimal performance wise in general for gaming... however several game and hardware developers have said they will be concentrating on win7 for performance enhancements/opptimisation that may not get into their vista support. So in the long term it worth be a worthwhile move.

cool cheres guys i just read some benchmarks - and the fps isnt always favourable to win7 but bad drivers are generally blamed so i guess i should wait till release and re evaluate then.
 
I noticed no improvement using windows 7 so am now back on vista,

Very rarely get slowdown on any games, maybe crysis on very high but it was the same on both operating systems

Not really.. I noticed something similar, and my OS installs are rarely ever more than a month old (I'm rather OCD about old installs). The improvement isn't huge, but it makes a difference in games where minimum FPS can cause issues. An extra 2fps in crysis when it's chugging can make the difference between chug and playable, so it's all good :)

I disagree, My vista install was fairly fresh and drivers were up to date. One thing the new install did fix for me was shadows in WOW which untill now I couldn't have turned on.. now i get 150 - 200 fps when not in combat :)

nothing wrong with that if you keep all your docs and stuff on a separate drive. Used to reinstall my OS every week but am trying to wean myself off it. :D Usually do it when something annoys me about the install I'm using and I can't be arsed to fix it. Pet niggle at the moment is that WMP12 keeps losing the file size of my mp3's on Win7 RC and display scaling doesn't work.
Almost put XP back on at the weekend as NWN2 wouldn't run but did actually find a solution to that online, summat to do with a DirectX check in DX11??
Usual thought process is "yeah but Windows 7 64 bit can make use of my hardware" (Dx10, 4GB RAM etc) but then put it on and realise that nothing really utilises any of that stuff to any great effect and I'd rather have the reliability of XP but then feel that I'm missing out in some way by not having the latest OS.....
